Weekly Torah Portion

It is considered a great joy to study the Torah via the portions that were set out by Ezra to read through the Cepheriym Mosheh (Five Books of Moses), also referred to as the Pentateuch. In addition to the traditional Torah portions, we have also included weekly readings from the Haftorah (Prophets) and the Besorah (Gospels). These portions are also collectively available in our publication titled Parshat; a hardcover perpetual book for annual study. Parshat: Shemoth (Exodus) 38:21 - 40:38

This is the sum of the Tabernacle, even of the Tabernacle of testimony, as it was counted, according to the commandment of Mosheh, for the service of the Leviyiym, by the hand of Iythamar, son to Aharon the priest. 22 And Betsal'el the son of Uriy, the son of Choriy, of the tribe of Yahudah, made את all that Yahuah commanded Mosheh. 23 And with him was Aholiy'av, son of Achiycamak, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver, and a cunning workman, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple, and in scarlet, and fine linen. 24 All the gold that was occupied for the work in all the work of the holy place, even the gold of the offering, was twenty and nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty sheqels, after the sheqel of the sanctuary. 25 And the silver of them that were numbered of the assembly was a hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and threescore and fifteen sheqels, after the sheqel of the sanctuary: 26 A bekah for every man, that is, half a sheqel, after the sheqel of the sanctuary, for everyone that went to be numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty men. 27 And of the hundred talents of silver were cast את the sockets of the sanctuary, and את the sockets of the veil; a hundred sockets of the hundred talents, a talent for a socket. 28 And of the thousand seven hundred seventy and five sheqels he made hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their chapiters, and filleted them. 29 And the brass of the offering was seventy talents, and two thousand and four hundred sheqels. 30 And therewith he made the sockets to the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly, and את the brazen altar, and the brazen grate for it, and all the vessels of the altar, 31 And the sockets of the court round about, and the sockets of the court gate, and all the pins of the Tabernacle, and all the pins of the court round about.

CHAPTER 39

And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made cloths of service, to do service in the holy place, and made the holy garments for Aharon; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh. 2 And he made the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. 3 And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, with cunning work. 4 They made shoulder pieces for it, to couple it together: by the two edges was it coupled together. 5 And the belt of his ephod, that was upon it, was of the same, according to the work thereof; of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

6 And they wrought onyx stones enclosed in ouches of gold, graven, as signets are graven with the names of the children of Yashar'el. 7 And he put them on the shoulders of the ephod, that they should be stones for a memorial to the children of Yashar'el; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

8 And he made the breastplate of cunning work, like the work of the ephod, of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. 9 It was foursquare; they made the breastplate double: a span was the length thereof, and a span the breadth thereof, being doubled. 10 And they set in it four rows of stones: the first row was a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this was the first row. 11 And the second row, an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. 12 And the third row, a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. 13 And the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper: they were enclosed in ouches of gold in their inclosing's. 14 And the stones were according to the names of the children of Yashar'el, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, everyone with his name, according to the twelve tribes. 15 And they made upon the breastplate chains at the ends, of wreathen work of pure gold. 16 And they made two ouches of gold, and two gold rings; and put the two rings in the two ends of the breastplate. 17 And they put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings on the ends of the breastplate. 18 And את the two ends of the two wreathen chains they fastened in the two ouches and put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, before it. 19 And they made two rings of gold and put them on the two ends of the breastplate, upon the border of it, which was on the side of the ephod inward. 20 And they made two other golden rings and put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the forepart of it, over against the other coupling thereof, above the belt of the ephod. 21 And they did bind the breastplate by his rings unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it might be above the belt of the ephod, and that the breastplate might not be loosed from the ephod; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

22 And he made the robe of the ephod of woven work, all of blue. 23 And there was a hole in the midst of the robe, as the hole of a habergeon, with a band round about the hole, that it should not rend. 24 And they made upon the hems of the robe pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined linen. 25 And they made bells of pure gold and put the bells between the pomegranates upon the hem of the robe, round about between the pomegranates; 26 A bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, round about the hem of the robe to minister in; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

27 And they made coats of fine linen of woven work for Aharon, and for his sons, 28 And את a turban of fine linen, and goodly bonnets of fine linen, and linen breeches of fine twined linen, 29 And a belt of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, of needlework; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

30 And they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote upon it a writing, like to the engravings of a signet, Qodesh L'Yahuah. 31 And they tied unto it a lace of blue, to fasten it on high upon the turban; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

32 Thus was all the work of the Tabernacle of the tent of the assembly finished: and the children of Yashar'el did according to all that Yahuah commanded Mosheh, so did they.

33 And they brought the Tabernacle unto El-Mosheh, the tent, and all his furniture, his taches, his boards, his bars, and his pillars, and his sockets, 34 And the covering of rams' skins dyed red, and the covering of antelope skins, and את the veil of the covering, 35 The Ark of the Testimony, and the staves thereof, and the mercy seat, 36 The table, and all the vessels thereof, and the showbread, 37 The pure menorah, with the lamps thereof, even with the lamps to be set in order, and all the vessels thereof, and את the oil for light, 38 And את the golden altar, and את the anointing oil, and את the sweet incense, and את the hanging for the Tabernacle door, 39 את The brazen altar, and his grate of brass, his staves, and all his vessels, the laver and his foot, 40 אתThe hangings of the court, his pillars, and his sockets, and the hanging for the court gate, his cords, and his pins, and את all the vessels of the service of the Tabernacle, for the tent of the assembly, 41 The cloths of service to do service in the holy place, and the holy garments for Aharon the priest, and his sons' garments, to minister in the priest's office. 42 According to all that Yahuah commanded Mosheh, so the children of Yashar'el made את all the work. 43 And Mosheh did look upon all the work, and behold, they had done it as Yahuah had commanded, even so had they done it: and Mosheh blessed them.

CHAPTER 40

And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 2 On the first day of the first month shall you set up the Tabernacle of the tent of the assembly. 3 And you shall put therein את the Ark of the Testimony and cover the Ark with the veil. 4 And you shall bring in the table and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and you shall bring in the menorah and light the lamps thereof. 5 And you shall set the altar of gold for the incense before the Ark of the Testimony and put the hanging of the door to the Tabernacle. 6 And you shall set את the altar of the ascending smoke offering before the door of the Tabernacle of the tent of the assembly. 7 And you shall set the laver between the tent of the assembly and the altar and shall put water therein. 8 And you shall set up the court round about and hang up the hanging at the court gate. 9 And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the Tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shall hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy. 10 And you shall anoint the altar of the ascending smoke offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy. 11 And you shall anoint the laver and his foot and sanctify it. 12 And you shall bring Aharon and his sons unto the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly and wash them with water. 13 And you shall put upon Aharon את the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. 14 And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with coats: 15 And you shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations. 16 Thus did Mosheh: according to all that Yahuah commanded him, so did he.

17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the Tabernacle was reared up. 18 And Mosheh reared up the Tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars. 19 And he spread abroad the tent over the Tabernacle and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

20 And he took and put the testimony into the Ark, and set the staves on the Ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the Ark: 21 And he brought the Ark into the Tabernacle, and set up את the veil of the covering, and covered the Ark of the Testimony; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

22 And he put the table in the tent of the assembly, upon the side of the Tabernacle northward, without the veil. 23 And he set the bread in order upon it before Yahuah; as Yahuah had commanded Mosheh.

24 And he put the menorah in the tent of the assembly, over against the table, on the side of the Tabernacle southward. 25 And he lighted the lamps before Yahuah; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

26 And he put the golden altar in the tent of the assembly before the veil: 27 And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

28 And he set up the hanging at the door of the Tabernacle. 29 And he put the altar of the ascending smoke offering by the door of the Tabernacle of the tent of the assembly you and offered upon it the ascending smoke offering and the oblation; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

30 And he set the laver between the tent of the assembly and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal. 31 And Mosheh and Aharon and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat: 32 When they went into the tent of the assembly, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh. 33 And he reared up the court round about the Tabernacle and the altar and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Mosheh finished the work.

34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the assembly, and the glory of Yahuah filled the Tabernacle. 35 And Mosheh was not able to enter into the tent of the assembly, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of Yahuah filled the Tabernacle. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the Tabernacle, the children of Yashar'el went onward in all their journeys: 37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of Yahuah was upon the Tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Yashar'el, throughout all their journeys.

Haftarah: Melekiym Ri'shon (1 Kings) 7:51 - 8:21

So was ended all the work that King Shalomah made for the house of Yahuah. And Shalomah brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of Yahuah.

CHAPTER 8

Then Shalomah assembled the elders of Yashar'el, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Yashar'el, unto King Shalomah in Yerushalayim, that they might bring up the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah out of the city of David, which is Tsiyon. 2 And all the men of Yashar'el assembled themselves unto King Shalomah at the feast in the month Eythaniym, which is the seventh month. 3 And all the elders of Yashar'el came, and the priests took up the Ark. 4 And they brought up the Ark of Yahuah, and the Tabernacle of the assembly, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Leviyiym bring up. 5 And King Shalomah, and all the assembly of Yashar'el, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the Ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude. 6 And the priests brought in the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the Keruviym. 7 For the Keruviym spread forth their two wings over the place of the Ark, and the Keruviym covered the Ark and the staves thereof above. 8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day. 9 There was nothing in the Ark save the two caphire stones, which Mosheh put there at Chorev, when Yahuah cut a covenant with the children of Yashar'el, when they came out of the land of Mitsrayim. 10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place that the cloud filled the house of Yahuah, 11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of Yahuah had filled the house of Yahuah.

12 Then spoke Shalomah, Yahuah said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. 13 I have surely built you a house to dwell in, a settled place for you to abide in forever. 14 And the king turned his face about, and blessed את all the assembly of Yashar'el: (and all the assembly of Yashar'el stood;) 15 And he said: Blessed be Yahuah Elohai of Yashar'el, which spoke with his mouth את unto David my father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying: 16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Yashar'el out of Mitsrayim, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Yashar'el to build a house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Yashar'el. 17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahuah Elohai of Yashar'el. 18 And Yahuah said unto El-David my father: Whereas it was in your heart to build a house unto my name, you did well that it was in your heart. 19 Nevertheless you shall not build the house; but your son that shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house unto my name. 20 And Yahuah has performed his word that he spoke, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Yashar'el, as Yahuah promised, and have built a house for the name of Yahuah Elohai of Yashar'el. 21 And I have set there a place for the Ark, wherein is the covenant of Yahuah, which he cut with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim.

Besorah: Yochanon (John) 6:1-71

After these things Yahusha went over the Sea of Galiyl, which is the Sea of Tiveriyah. 2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. 3 And Yahusha went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his Talmidiym. 4 And the Pecach, a Feast of Yahuah which the Yahudiym observed, was nigh.

5 When Yahusha then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he said unto Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? 6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him: Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. 8 One of his Talmidiym, Andrai, Shim'on Kepha's brother, said unto him: 9 There is a lad here, which has five barley loaves, and two small fish: but what are they among so many? 10 And Yahusha said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Yahusha took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the Talmidiym, and the Talmidiym to them that were set down; and likewise of the fish as much as they would. 12 When they were filled, he said unto his Talmidiym: Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. 13 Therefore they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. 14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Yahusha did, said: This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 When Yahusha therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. 16 And when even was now come, his Talmidiym went down unto the sea, 17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Kapharnachum. And it was now dark, and Yahusha was not come to them. 18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. 19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty stadion, they see Yahusha walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. 20 But he said unto them: It is I; be not afraid. 21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, save that one whereinto his Talmidiym were entered, and that Yahusha went not with his Talmidiym into the boat, but that his Talmidiym were gone away alone; 23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiveriyah nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that Adonai had given thanks:) 24 When the people therefore saw that Yahusha was not there, neither his Talmidiym, they also took shipping, and came to Kapharnachum, seeking for Yahusha. 25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him: Rabbi, when came you hither? 26 Yahusha answered them and said: Amein, Amein, I say unto you: Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labor not for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of A'dam shall give unto you: for him has Elohiym the Father sealed. 28 Then said they unto him: What shall we do, that we might work the works of Elohiym? 29 Yahusha answered and said unto them: This is the work of Elohiym, that ye believe on him whom he has sent. 30 They said therefore unto him: What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? What do you work? 31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert, as it is written,

He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 Then Yahusha said unto them: Amein, Amein, I say unto you, Mosheh gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of Elohiym is he which comes down from heaven and gives life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him: Adonai, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Yahusha said unto them: I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you: That ye also have seen me and believe not. 37 All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 41 The Yahudiym then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42 And they said: Is not this Yahusha, the son of Yoceph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that he says, I came down from heaven? 43 Yahusha therefore answered and said unto them: Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draws him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets,

And they shall be all taught of Elohiym.

Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me. 46 Not that any man has seen the Father, save he who is of Elohiym, he has seen the Father. 47 Amein, Amein, I say unto you: He that believes on me has everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eats of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Yahudiym therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Yahusha said unto them: Amein, Amein, I say unto you: Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of A'dam, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live forever. 59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Kapharnachum. 60 Many therefore of his Talmidiym, when they had heard this, said: This is a hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Yahusha knew in himself that his Talmidiym murmured at it, he said unto them: Does this offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of A'dam ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the Ruach that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are ruach, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Yahusha knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65 And he said: Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66 From that time many of his Talmidiym went back and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Yahusha unto the twelve: Will ye also go away? 68 Then Shim'on Kepha answered him: Adonai, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that you are that Mashiach, the Son of the living Elohiym. 70 Yahusha answered them: Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? 71 He spoke of Yahudah Iyshqiryot the son of Shim'on: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
