Parshat: Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 32:3 - 36:43
And Ya'aqov sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Se'iyr, the country of Edom. 4 And he commanded them, saying: Thus shall ye speak unto my adoniy Esau; Your servant Ya'aqov says thus, I have sojourned with Lavan, and stayed there until now: 5 And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and women servants: and I have sent to tell my adoniy, that I may find grace in your sight.
6 And the messengers returned to El-Ya'aqov, saying: We came to your brother Esau, and also, he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him. 7 Then Ya'aqov was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two bands; 8 And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.
9 And Ya'aqov said: O Elohai of my father Avraham, and Elohai of my father Yitschaq, Yahuah which said unto me: Return unto your country, and to your kindred, and I will deal well with you: 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which you have showed unto your servant; for with my staff I passed over את this Yardan; and now I am become two bands. 11 Deliver me, I pray you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. 12 And you said, I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother; 14 Two hundred she-goats, and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams, 15 Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals. 16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants: Pass over before me and put a space between drove and drove. 17 And he commanded the foremost, saying: When Esau my brother meets you, and asks you, saying: Whose are you? And where go you? And whose are these before you? 18 Then you shall say: They be your servant Ya'aqov's; it is a present sent unto my adoniy Esau: and behold, also he is behind us. 19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying: On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him. 20 And say ye moreover: Behold, your servant Ya'aqov is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face; perchance he will accept of me. 21 So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company. 22 And he rose up that night, and took his two women, and his two women servants, and his eleven sons, and passed over את the ford Yabboq. 23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.
24 And Ya'aqov was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Ya'aqov's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said: Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me. 27 And he said unto him: What is your name? And he said: Ya'aqov. 28 And he said: Your name shall be called no more Ya'aqov, but Yashar'el: for as a prince have you power with Elohiym and with men and have prevailed. 29 And Ya'aqov asked him, and said: Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he said: Wherefore is it that you do ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Ya'aqov called the name of the place Penu'el: for I have seen Elohiym face to face, and my life is preserved. 31 And as he passed over Penu'el the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh. 32 Therefore the children of Yashar'el eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Ya'aqov's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
CHAPTER 33
And Ya'aqov lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Le'ah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids. 2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Le'ah and her children after, and Rachel and Yoceph hindermost. 3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. 4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. 5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said: Who are those with you? And he said: The children which Elohiym has graciously given your servant. 6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. 7 And Le'ah also with her children came near and bowed themselves: and after came Yoceph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves. 8 And he said: What do you mean by all this drove which I met? And he said: These are to find grace in the sight of my adoniy. 9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that you have unto yourself. 10 And Ya'aqov said, Nay, I pray you, if now I have found grace in your sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen your face, as though I had seen the face of Elohiym, and you were pleased with me. 11 Take, I pray you, my blessing that is brought to you; because Elohiym has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it. 12 And he said: Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before you. 13 And he said unto him: My adoniy knows that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die. 14 Let my adoniy, I pray you, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goes before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my el-adoniy unto Se'iyr. 15 And Esau said: Let me now leave with you some of the folk that are with me. And he said: What needs it? Let me find grace in the sight of my adoniy.
16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Se'iyr. 17 And Ya'aqov journeyed to Cukkoth, and built him a house, and made cukkoth for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Cukkoth.
18 And Ya'aqov came to Shalem, a city of Shekem, which is in the land of Kena'an, when he came from Paddan Aram; and pitched his tent before the city. 19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Chamor, Shekem's father, for a hundred pieces of money. 20 And he erected there an altar and called it El Elohai Yashar'el.
CHAPTER 34
And Diynah the daughter of Le'ah, which she bore unto Ya'aqov, went out to see the daughters of the land. 2 And when Shekem the son of Chamor the Chivviy, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. 3 And his soul clave unto Diynah the daughter of Ya'aqov, and he loved the damsel, and spoke kindly unto the damsel. 4 And Shekem spoke unto his father Chamor, saying: Get me this damsel to be my woman. 5 And Ya'aqov heard that he had defiled Diynah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Ya'aqov held his peace until they were come.
6 And Chamor the father of Shekem went out unto El-Ya'aqov to commune with him. 7 And the sons of Ya'aqov came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Yashar'el in lying with Ya'aqov's daughter, which thing ought not to be done. 8 And Chamor communed with them, saying: The soul of my son Shekem longs for your daughter: I pray you give her him to be his woman. 9 And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you. 10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein and get you possessions therein. 11 And Shekem said unto her father and unto her brethren: Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give. 12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to be my woman. 13 And the sons of Ya'aqov answered Shekem and Chamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled את Diynah their sister: 14 And they said unto them: We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us: 15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised; 16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone. 18 And their words pleased Chamor, and Shekem Chamor's son. 19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Ya'aqov's daughter: and he was more honorable than all the house of his father.
20 And Chamor and Shekem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying: 21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for women, and let us give them our daughters. 22 Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised. 23 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? Only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us. 24 And unto Chamor and unto Shekem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.
25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Ya'aqov, Shim'on and Leviy, Diynah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. 26 And they slew Chamor and Shekem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Diynah out of Shekem's house, and went out. 27 The sons of Ya'aqov came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, 29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their women took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house. 30 And Ya'aqov said to Shim'on and Leviy: Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Kena'aniym and the Perizziym: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. 31 And they said: Should he deal with our sister as with a harlot?
CHAPTER 35
And Elohiym said unto El-Ya'aqov: Arise, go up to Beyt-El, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto Elohiym, that appeared unto you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother. 2 Then Ya'aqov said unto his household, and to all that were with him: Put away the strange elohai that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: 3 And let us arise and go up to Beyt-El; and I will make there an altar unto Elohiym, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. 4 And they gave unto El-Ya'aqov את all the strange elohai which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Ya'aqov hid them under the oak which was by Shekem. 5 And they journeyed: and the terror of Elohiym was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Ya'aqov.
6 So Ya'aqov came to Luz, which is in the land of Kena'an, that is, Beyt-El, he and all the people that were with him. 7 And he built there an altar and called the place El Beyt-El: because there Elohiym appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother. 8 But Deborah Rivqah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Beyt-El under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon Bakuth.
9 And Elohiym appeared unto El-Ya'aqov again, when he came out of Paddan Aram, and blessed him. 10 And Elohiym said unto him: Your name is Ya'aqov: your name shall not be called anymore Ya'aqov, but Yashar'el shall be your name: and he called his name Yashar'el. 11 And Elohiym said unto him: I am El Shaddai: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come out of your loins; 12 And the land which I gave Avraham and Yitschaq, to you I will give it, and to your seed after you will I give the land. 13 And Elohiym went up from him in the place where he talked with him. 14 And Ya'aqov set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. 15 And Ya'aqov called the name of the place where Elohiym spoke with him, Beyt-El.
16 And they journeyed from Beyt-El; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrathah: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labor. 17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; you shall have this son also. 18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-Oniy: but his father called him Binyamiyn. 19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrathah, which is Beyt Lechem. 20 And Ya'aqov set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.
21 And Yashar'el journeyed and spread his tent beyond Migdal-Eder. 22 And it came to pass, when Yashar'el dwelt in that land, that Re'uven went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Yashar'el heard it. Now the sons of Ya'aqov were twelve: 23 The sons of Le'ah; Re'uven, Ya'aqov's firstborn, and Shim'on, and Leviy, and Yahudah, and Yisshakar, and Zevulun: 24 The sons of Rachel; Yoceph, and Binyamiyn: 25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtaliy: 26 And the sons of Zilpah, Le'ah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Ya'aqov, which were born to him in Paddan Aram.
27 And Ya'aqov came unto El-Yitschaq his father unto Mamre, unto Qiryat Arba, which is Chevron, where Avraham and Yitschaq sojourned. 28 And the days of Yitschaq were a hundred and fourscore years. 29 And Yitschaq gave up his ruach, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Ya'aqov buried him.
CHAPTER 36
Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom. 2 Esau took his women of the daughters of Kena'an; Adah the daughter of Eylon the Chittiy, and Oholiyvamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Tsiv'on the Chivviy; 3 And Basmath Yishma'el's daughter, sister of Nevayoth. 4 And Adah bore to Esau Eliyphaz; and Basmath bore Re'u'el; 5 And Oholiyvamah bore Ye'iysh, and Ya'alam, and Qorach: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Kena'an. 6 And Esau took his women, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Kena'an; and went into the country from the face of his brother Ya'aqov. 7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle. 8 Thus dwelt Esau in Mount Se'iyr: Esau is Edom.
9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomiym in Mount Se'iyr: 10 These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliyphaz the son of Adah the woman of Esau, Re'u'el the son of Basmath the woman of Esau. 11 And the sons of Eliyphaz were Teyman, Omar, Tsepho, and Ga'tam, and Qenaz. 12 And Timna was concubine to Eliyphaz Esau's son; and she bore to Eliyphaz Amaleq: these were the sons of Adah Esau's woman. 13 And these are the sons of Re'u'el; Nachath, and Zerach, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Basmath Esau's woman.
14 And these were the sons of Oholiyvamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Tsiv'on, Esau's woman: and she bore to Esau Ye'iysh, and Ya'alam, and Qorach.
15 These were Alephiym of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliyphaz the firstborn son of Esau; Aleph Teyman, Aleph Omar, Aleph Tsepho, Aleph Qenaz, 16 Aleph Qorach, Aleph Ga'tam, and Aleph Amaleq: these are the Alephiym that came of Eliyphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.
17 And these are the sons of Re'u'el Esau's son; Aleph Nachath, Aleph Zerach, Aleph Shammah, Aleph Mizzah: these are the Alephiym that came of Re'u'el in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basmath Esau's woman.
18 And these are the sons of Oholiyvamah Esau's woman; Aleph Ye'iysh, Aleph Ya'alam, Aleph Qorach: these were the Alephiym that came of Oholiyvamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's woman. 19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their Alephiym.
20 These are the sons of Se'iyr the Choriy, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shoval, and Tsiv'on, and Anah, 21 And Diyshon, and Etser, and Diyshan: these are the Alephiym of the Choriym, the children of Se'iyr in the land of Edom. 22 And the children of Lotan were Choriy and Heymam; and Lotan's sister was Timna. 23 And the children of Shoval were these; Alyan, and Manachath, and Eyval, Shephiy, and Onam. 24 And these are the children of Tsiv'on; both Ayah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the Yemiym in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Tsiv'on his father. 25 And the children of Anah were these; Diyshon, and Oholiyvamah the daughter of Anah. 26 And these are the children of Diyshon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Yithran, and Cheran. 27 The children of Etser are these; Bilhan, and Za'avan, and Aqan. 28 The children of Diyshan are these; Uts, and Aran. 29 These are the Alephiym that came of the Choriym; Aleph Lotan, Aleph Shoval, Aleph Tsiv'on, Aleph Anah, 30 Aleph Diyshon, Aleph Etser, Aleph Diyshan: these are the Alephiym that came of Choriy, among their Alephiym in the land of Se'iyr.
31 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Yashar'el. 32 And Bela the son of Be'or reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 33 And Bela died, and Yovav the son of Zerach of Botsrah reigned in his stead. 34 And Yovav died, and Chusham of the land of Teymaniy reigned in his stead. 35 And Chusham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midyan in the field of Mo'av, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Aviyth. 36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masreqah reigned in his stead. 37 And Samlah died, and Sha'ul of Rechovoth by the river reigned in his stead. 38 And Sha'ul died, and Ba'al Chanan the son of Akbor reigned in his stead. 39 And Ba'al Chanan the son of Akbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pa'u; and his woman's name was Meheytav'el, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mey Zahav. 40 And these are the names of the Alephiym that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; Aleph Timna, Aleph Alyah, Aleph Yetheth, 41 Aleph Oholiyvamah, Aleph Elah, Aleph Piynon, 42 Aleph Qenaz, Aleph Teyman, Aleph Mivtsar, 43 Aleph Magdiy'el, Aleph Iyram: these be the Alephiym of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomiym.
Haftorah: Husha (Hosea) 11:7 - 12:12; Ovadyahu (Obadiah) 1:1-21
And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to El-Al, none at all would exalt him. 8 How shall I give you up, Ephrayim? How shall I deliver you, Yashar'el? How shall I make you as Admah? How shall I set you as Tsevo'iym? My heart is turned within me, my repenting is kindled together. 9 I will not execute the fierceness of my anger, I will not return to destroy Ephrayim: for I am El, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city. 10 They shall walk after Yahuah: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west. 11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Mitsrayim, and as a dove out of the land of Ashshur: and I will place them in their houses, says Yahuah. 12 Ephrayim compasses me about with lies, and the house of Yashar'el with deceit: but Yahudah yet rules with El and is faithful with the qodeshiym.
CHAPTER 12
Epharayim feeds on wind and follows after the east wind: he daily increases lies and desolation; and they do cut a covenant with the Ashshuriym, and oil is carried into Mitsrayim. 2 Yahuah has also a controversy with Yahudah and will punish Ya'aqov according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with Elohiym: 4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and he prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Beyt-El, and there he spoke with us; 5 Even Yahuah Elohai Tseva'oth; Yahuah is his mention. 6 Therefore turn to your Elohiym: guard mercy and judgment and wait on your Elohiym continually.
7 He is a merchant; the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loves to oppress. 8 And Ephrayim said: Yet I have become rich, I have found my substance: in all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that is sin. 9 And I that am Yahuah Elohayka from the land of Mitsrayim will yet make you to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast. 10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets. 11 Is there iniquity in Gil'ad? Surely, they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields. 12 And Ya'aqov fled into the country of Aram, and Yashar'el served for a woman, and for a woman he guarded sheep.
Ovadyahu (Obadiah) 1:1-21
The vision of Ovadyahu. Thus says Adonai Yahuah concerning Edom; We have heard a rumor from Yahuah, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen: Arise ye and let us rise up against her in battle. 2 Behold, I have made you small among the heathen: you are greatly despised.
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that says in his heart: Who shall bring me down to the ground? 4 Though you exalt yourself as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, thence will I bring you down, says Yahuah. 5 If thieves came to you, if robbers by night, (how are you cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? If the grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some grapes? 6 How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up! 7 All the men of your confederacy have brought you even to the border: the men that were at peace with you have deceived you and prevailed against you; they that eat your bread have laid a wound under you: there is no understanding in him. 8 Shall I not in that day, says Yahuah, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the Mount of Esau? 9 And your mighty men, O Teyman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the Mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
10 For your violence against your brother Ya'aqov shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever. 11 In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Yerushalayim, even you were as one of them. 12 But you should not have looked on the day of your brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither should you have rejoiced over the children of Yahudah in the day of their destruction; neither should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress. 13 You should not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, you should not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity; 14 Neither should you have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither should you have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress. 15 For the day of Yahuah is near upon all the heathen: as you have done, it shall be done unto you: your reward shall return upon your own head. 16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
17 But upon Mount Tsiyon shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Ya'aqov shall possess את their possessions. 18 And the house of Ya'aqov shall be a fire, and the house of Yoceph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for Yahuah has spoken it. 19 And they of the Negev shall possess the Mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Pelishtiym: and they shall possess the fields of Ephrayim, and את the fields of Shomeron: and Binyamiyn shall possess Gil'ad. 20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Yashar'el shall possess that of the Kena'aniym, even unto Tsarephath; and the captivity of Yerushalayim which is in Cepharad, shall possess את the cities of the Negev. 21 And saviors shall come up on Mount Tsiyon to judge the Mount of Esau; and the Kingdom shall be Yahuah's.
Besorah: Yochanon (John) 1:19 - 2:12
And this is the record of Yahuchanon, when the Yahudiym sent priests and Leviyiym from Yerushalayim to ask him: Who are you? 20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not Ha'Mashiach. 21 And they asked him: What then? Are you Eliyahu? And he said, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No. 22 Then said they unto him: Who are you? That we may give an answer to them that sent us. What say you of yourself? 23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the Way of Yahuah, as said the prophet Yesha'yahu. 24 And they which were sent were of the Parashiym. 25 And they asked him, and said unto him: Why baptize you then, if you be not that Mashiach, nor Eliyahu, neither that prophet? 26 Yahuchanon answered them, saying: I baptize with water: but there stands one among you, whom ye know not; 27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things were done in Beyt Avarah beyond the Yardan, where Yahuchanon was baptizing.
29 The next day Yahuchanon sees Yahusha coming unto him, and says: Behold the Lamb of Elohiym, which takes away the sin of the world. 30 This is he of whom I said: After me comes a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. 31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Yashar'el, therefore am I come baptizing with water. 32 And Yahuchanon bore record, saying: I saw the Ruach descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me: Upon whom you את shall see the Ruach descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Ruach Ha'Qodesh. 34 And I saw and bore record that this is the Son of Elohiym.
35 Again the next day after Yahuchanon stood, and two of his Talmidiym; 36 And looking upon Yahusha as he walked, he said: Behold the Lamb of Elohiym! 37 And the two Talmidiym heard him speak, and they followed Yahusha. 38 Then Yahusha turned, and saw them following, and said unto them: What seek ye? They said unto him: Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher,) where do you dwell? 39 He said unto them: Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. 40 One of the two which heard Yahuchanon speak, and followed him, was Andrai, Shim'on Kepha's brother. 41 He first finds his own brother Shim'on and says unto him: We have found Ha'Mashiach. 42 And he brought him to Yahusha. And when Yahusha beheld him, he said, את You are Shim'on the son of Yonah, you shall be called Kepha, which is by interpretation: A stone.
43 The day following Yahusha would go forth into Galiyl, and find Philip, and say unto him, Follow me. 44 Now Philip was of Beyt Tsayad, the city of Andrai and Kepha. 45 Philip finds Nethan'el, and says unto him: We have found him, of whom Mosheh in the Law, and the prophets, did write, Yahusha of Natsareth, the son of Yoceph. 46 And Nethan'el said unto him: Can there any good thing את come out of Natsareth? Philip said unto him: Come and see. 47 Yahusha saw Nethan'el coming to him and said of him: Behold a Yashar'e'liy indeed, in whom is no guile! 48 Nethan'el said unto him: from whence do you know me? Yahusha answered and said unto him: Before that Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you. 49 Nethan'el answered and said unto him: Rabbi, you are the Son of Elohiym; you are the King of Yashar'el. 50 Yahusha answered and said unto him: Because I said unto you, I saw you under the fig tree, you believe? You shall see greater things than these. 51 And he said unto him: Amein, Amein, I say unto you: Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of Elohiym ascending and descending upon the Son of A'dam.
CHAPTER 2
And the third day there was a marriage in Qanah of Galiyl; and the mother of Yahusha was there: 2 And both Yahusha was called, and his Talmidiym, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Yahusha said unto him: They have no wine. 4 Yahusha said unto her: Woman, what is this to me? My hour is not yet come. 5 His mother said unto the servants: Whatsoever he says unto you, do it. 6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Yahudiym, containing two or three measures apiece. 7 Yahusha said unto them: Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said unto them: Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bore it. 9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And said unto him: Every man at the beginning sets forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now. 11 This beginning of miracles did Yahusha in Qanah of Galiyl and manifested forth his glory; and his Talmidiym believed on him.
12 After this he went down to Kapharnachum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his Talmidiym: and they continued there not many days.
