July 27, 2024 | 22 Chamiyshiy (Av)

Parshat: Bemidbar (Numbers) 25:10 - 30:1

And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 11 Piynechac, the son of El`azar, the son of Aharon the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Yashar’el, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Yashar’el in my jealousy. 12 Wherefore say: Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: 13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his Elohiym and made an atonement for the children of Yashar’el. 14 Now the name of the Yashar`e’liy that was slain, even that was slain with the Midyaniyth woman, was Zimriy, the son of Callu, a prince of a chief house among the Shim`oniym. 15 And the name of the Midyaniy woman that was slain was Kozbiy, the daughter of Tsur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midyan.

16 And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 17 Vex the Midyaniym, and smite them: 18 For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Pe`or, and in the matter of Kozbiy, the daughter of a prince of Midyan, their sister, who was slain in the day of the plague for Pe`or's sake.

63 These are they that were numbered by Mosheh and El`azar the priest, who numbered the children of Yashar’el in the plains of Mo’av by the Yardan near Yeriycho. 64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Mosheh and Aharon the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Yashar’el in the wilderness of Ciynai. 65 For Yahuah had said of them: They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Kalev the son of Yephunneh, and Yahusha the son of Nun.

Chapter 27

Then came the daughters of Tselophchad, the son of Chepher, the son of Gil`ad, the son of Makiyr, the son of Menashsheh, of the families of Menashsheh the son of Yoceph: and these are the names of his daughters; Machlah, No`ah, and Choglah, and Milkah, and Tirtsah. 2 And they stood before Mosheh, and before El`azar the priest, and before the princes and all the assembly, by the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly, saying: 3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against Yahuah in the company of Qorach; but died in his own sin, and had no sons. 4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he has no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father. 5 And Mosheh brought their cause before Yahuah.

6 And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 7 The daughters of Tselophchad speak right: you shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. 8 And you shall speak unto the children of Yashar’el, saying: If a man dies, and has no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. 9 And if he has no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. 10 And if he has no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren. 11 And if his father has no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Yashar’el a statute of judgment, as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

12 And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: Get you up into this Mount Avariym and see the land which I have given unto the children of Yashar’el. 13 And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered unto your people, as Aharon your brother was gathered. 14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Tsin, in the strife of the assembly, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meriyvah in Qadesh in the wilderness of Tsin.

15 And Mosheh spoke unto El-Yahuah, saying: 16 Let Yahuah, the Elohai of the ruachoth of all flesh, set a man over the assembly, 17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the assembly of Yahuah be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

18 And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: Take Yahusha the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Ruach, and lay your hand upon him; 19 And set him before El`azar the priest, and before all the assembly; and give him a charge in their sight. 20 And you shall put some of your honor upon him, that all the assembly of the children of Yashar’el may be obedient. 21 And he shall stand before El`azar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Uriym before Yahuah: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Yashar’el with him, even all the assembly. 22 And Mosheh did as Yahuah commanded him: and he took Yahusha, and set him before El`azar the priest, and before all the assembly: 23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as Yahuah commanded by the hand of Mosheh.

Chapter 28

And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 2 Command the children of Yashar’el, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savor unto me, shall ye guard to offer unto me in their appointed time. 3 And you shall say unto them: This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto Yahuah; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual ascending smoke offering. 4 The one lamb shall you offer in the morning, and the other lamb shall you offer at evening; 5 And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for an oblation, mingled with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil. 6 It is a continual ascending smoke offering, which was ordained in Mount Ciynai for a sweet savor, a sacrifice made by fire unto Yahuah. 7 And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of a hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shall you cause the strong wine to be poured unto Yahuah for a drink offering. 8 And the other lamb shall you offer at evening: as the oblation of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, you shall offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Yahuah.

9 And on the Shabbath two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for an oblation, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof: 10 This is the ascending smoke offering of every Shabbath, beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and his drink offering.

16 And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the Pecach of Yahuah. 17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall matstsah be eaten. 18 In the first day shall be a holy assembly; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein: 19 But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for an ascending smoke offering unto Yahuah; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without blemish: 20 And their oblation shall be of flour mingled with oil: three tenth deals shall ye offer for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram; 21 A several tenth deal shall you offer for every lamb, throughout the seven lambs: 22 And one goat for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you. 23 Ye shall offer these beside the ascending smoke offering in the morning, which is for a continual ascending smoke offering. 24 After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Yahuah: it shall be offered beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and his drink offering. 25 And on the seventh day ye shall have a holy assembly; ye shall do no servile work.

26 And in the day of Bikkoor, when ye bring a renewed oblation unto Yahuah, in your Shavu’oth, ye shall have a holy assembly; ye shall do no servile work: 27 But ye shall offer the ascending smoke offering for a sweet savor unto Yahuah; two young bullocks, one ram, seven lambs of the first year; 28 And their oblation of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto one bullock, two tenth deals unto one ram, 29 A several tenth deal unto one lamb, throughout the seven lambs; 30 And one kid of the goats, to make an atonement for you. 31 Ye shall offer them beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and his oblation, (they shall be unto you without blemish) and their drink offerings.

And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have a holy assembly; ye shall do no servile work: it is Yom Teru`ah unto you. 2 And ye shall offer an ascending smoke offering for a sweet savor unto Yahuah; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish: 3 And their oblation shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram, 4 And one tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs: 5 And one kid of the goats for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you: 6 Beside the ascending smoke offering of the month, and his oblation, and the daily ascending smoke offering, and his oblation, and their drink offerings, according unto their manner, for a sweet savor, a sacrifice made by fire unto Yahuah.

7 And ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month a holy assembly; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein: 8 But ye shall offer an ascending smoke offering unto Yahuah for a sweet savor; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year; they shall be unto you without blemish: 9 And their oblation shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals to a bullock, and two tenth deals to one ram, 10 A several tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs: 11 One kid of the goats for a sin offering; beside the sin offering of atonement, and the continual ascending smoke offering, and the oblation of it, and their drink offerings.

17 And on the second day ye shall offer twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without spot: 18 And their oblation and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner: 19 And one kid of the goats for a sin offering; beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and the oblation thereof, and their drink offerings.

20 And on the third day eleven bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish; 21 And their oblation and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner: 22 And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and his oblation, and his drink offering.

23 And on the fourth day ten bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish: 24 Their oblation and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner: 25 And one kid of the goats for a sin offering; beside the continual ascending smoke offering, his oblation, and his drink offering.

26 And on the fifth day nine bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without spot: 27 And their oblation and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner: 28 And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and his oblation, and his drink offering.

35 On the eighth day ye shall have a solemn assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein: 36 But ye shall offer an ascending smoke offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Yahuah: one bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first year without blemish: 37 Their oblation and their drink offerings for the bullock, for the ram, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the manner: 38 And one goat for a sin offering; beside the continual ascending smoke offering, and his oblation, and his drink offering. 39 These things ye shall do unto Yahuah in your set feasts, beside your vows, and your freewill offerings, for your ascending smoke offerings, and for your oblations, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings. 40 And Mosheh told the children of Yashar’el according to all that Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

Chapter 30

AND Mosheh spoke unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Yashar’el, saying: This is the thing which Yahuah has commanded.

Haftorah: Melekiym Ri’shon (1 Kings) 18:46 - 19:21

And the hand of Yahuah was on Eliyahu; and he girded up his loins and ran before Ach’av to the entrance of Yizre’el.

Chapter 19

AND Ach’av told Iyzebel את all that Eliyahu had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Iyzebel sent a messenger unto Eliyahu, saying: So let the elohiym do to me, and more also, if I make not your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. 3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Be`er Sheva, which belongs to Yahudah, and left his servant there.

4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said,

It is enough; now, O Yahuah, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him: Arise and eat. 6 And he looked, and behold, there was a cake baked on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink and laid him down again. 7 And the angel of Yahuah came again the second time, and touched him, and said: Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you. 8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meal forty days and forty nights unto Chorev the Mount of Elohiym.

9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the Word of Yahuah came to him, and he said unto him: What are you doing here, Eliyahu? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous for Yahuah Elohai Tseva’oth: for the children of Yashar’el have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 11 And he said: Go forth and stand upon the mount before Yahuah. And behold, Yahuah passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahuah; but Yahuah was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but Yahuah was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but Yahuah was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 13 And it was so, when Eliyahu heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And behold, there came a voice unto him, and said: What are you doing here, Eliyahu? 14 And he said, I have been very jealous for Yahuah Elohai Tseva’oth: because the children of Yashar’el have forsaken your covenant, thrown down altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 15 And Yahuah said unto him: Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when you come, anoint Chaza’el to be king over Aram: 16 And Yahu the son of Nimshiy shall you anoint to be king over Yashar’el: and Eliysha the son of Shaphat of Avel Mecholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your room. 17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapes the sword of Chaza’el shall Yahu slay: and him that escapes from the sword of Yahu shall Eliysha slay. 18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Yashar’el, all the knees which have not bowed unto Ba`al, and every mouth which has not kissed him.

19 So he departed thence, and found Eliysha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yokes of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Eliyahu passed by him and cast his mantle upon him. 20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Eliyahu, and said: Let me, I pray you, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you. And he said unto him: Go back again: for what have I done to you? 21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Eliyahu, and ministered unto him.

Chapter 20

And Ben Hadad the king of Aram gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Shomeron, and warred against it. 2 And he sent messengers to Ach’av king of Yashar’el into the city, and said unto him: Thus says Ben Hadad, 3 Your silver and your gold is mine; your women also and your children, even the goodliest, are mine. 4 And the king of Yashar’el answered and said, my adoniy, O king, according to your saying: I am yours, and all that I have. 5 And the messengers came again, and said: Thus speaks Ben Hadad, saying: Although I have sent unto you, saying: You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your women, and your children; 6 Yet I will send my servants unto you tomorrow about this time, and they shall search your house, and את the houses of your servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in your eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away. 7 Then the king of Yashar’el called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeks mischief: for he sent unto me for my women, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not. 8 And all the elders and all the people said unto him: Hearken not unto him, nor consent. 9 Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Ben Hadad: Tell my adoniy the king: All that you did send for to your servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed and brought him word again. 10 And Ben Hadad sent unto him, and said: The elohiym do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Shomeron shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me. 11 And the king of Yashar’el answered and said: Tell him: Let not him that girds on his harness boast himself as he that puts it off. 12 And it came to pass, when Ben Hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants: Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.

13 And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ach’av king of Yashar’el, saying: Thus says Yahuah: Have you seen את all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day; and you shall know that I am Yahuah. 14 And Ach’av said: By whom? And he said: Thus says Yahuah: Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said: Who shall order the battle? And he answered: You. 15 Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Yashar’el, being seven thousand. 16 And they went out at noon. But Ben Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him. 17 And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying: There are men come out of Shomeron. 18 And he said: Whether they are come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they are come out for war, take them alive. 19 So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them. 20 And they slew everyone his man: and the Arammiym fled; and Yashar’el pursued them: and Ben Hadad the king of Aram escaped on a horse with the horsemen. 21 And the king of Yashar’el went out, and smote the horses and the chariots, and slew the Arammiym with a great slaughter.

Besorah: Marqus (Mark) 11:27 - 12:37

And they come again to Yerushalayim: and as he was walking in the Temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders, 28 And say unto him: By what authority do you these things? And who gave you this authority to do these things? 29 And Yahusha answered and said unto them: I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 The baptism of Yahuchanon, was it from heaven, or of men? Answer me. 31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying: If we shall say: From heaven; he will say: Why then did ye not believe him? 32 But if we shall say: Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted Yahuchanon, that he was a prophet indeed. 33 And they answered and said unto Yahusha: We cannot tell. And Yahusha answering said unto them: Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Chapter 12

And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a place for the wine fat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. 2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. 4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. 5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some. 6 Having yet therefore one son, his well-beloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying: They will reverence my son. 7 But those husbandmen said among themselves: This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. 8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. 9 What shall therefore the adoniy of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen and will give the vineyard unto others. 10 And have ye not read this Scripture:

The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: 11 This was Yahuah’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

12 And they sought to lay hold on him but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him and went their way.

13 And they send unto him certain of the Parashiym and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. 14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are true, and care for no man: for you regard not the person of men, but teach the Way of Elohiym in truth: Is it Lawful to give tribute to Qeycar, or not? 15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them: Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it. 16 And they brought it. And he said unto them: Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him: Qeycar's. 17 And Yahusha answering said unto them: Render to Qeycar the things that are Qeycar's, and to Elohiym את the things that are Elohiym’s. And they marveled at him.

18 Then come unto him the Tsadoqiym, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying: 19 Rabbi, Mosheh wrote unto us: If a man's brother die, and leave his woman behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his woman, and raise up seed unto his brother. 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a woman and dying left no seed. 21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise. 22 And the seven had her and left no seed: last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose woman shall she be of them? For the seven had her as his woman. 24 And Yahusha answering said unto them: Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of El? 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. 26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the cepher of Mosheh, how in the thorn bush את Elohiym spoke unto him, saying:

I am the Elohiym of Avraham, and the Elohiym of Yitschaq, and the Elohiym of Ya`aqov?

27 He is not the Elohiym of the dead, but the Elohiym of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him: Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Yahusha answered him: The first of all the commandments is,

Hear, O Yashar’el; Yahuah Elohaynu, Yahuah is one: 30 And you shall love את Yahuah Elohayka with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength:

this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this,

You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

There is none other commandment greater than these. 32 And the scribe said unto him: Well, Rabbi, you have said the Truth: for there is one Elohiym; and there is none other but he: 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole ascending smoke offerings and sacrifices. 34 And when Yahusha saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him: You are not far from the Kingdom of Elohiym. And no man after that dared ask him any question.

35 And Yahusha answered and said, while he taught in the Temple: How say the scribes that Mashiach is the Son of David? 36 For David himself said by the Ruach Ha’Qodesh,

Yahuah said to my Adonai: Sit on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.

37 David therefore himself calls him Adonai; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
