Parshat: Shemoth (Exodus) 33:12 - 34:35
And Mosheh said unto El-Yahuah: See, you say unto me: Bring up this people: and you have not let me know את whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, I know you by name, and you have also found grace in my sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found grace in your sight, show me now your way, that I may know you, that I may find grace in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people. 14 And he said: My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest. 15 And he said unto him: If your presence goes not with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and your people have found grace in your sight? Is it not in that you go with us? So shall we be separated, I and your people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. 17 And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, I will do this thing also that you have spoken: for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name. 18 And he said, I beseech you, show me your glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahuah before you; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 And he said: You cannot see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And Yahuah said: Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
CHAPTER 34
And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: Hew you two caphire stones like unto the first: and I will write upon these caphires the words that were in the first caphires, which you broke. 2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto Mount Ciynai, and present yourself there to me in the top of the Mount. 3 And no man shall come up with you, neither let any man be seen throughout all the Mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
4 And he hewed two caphire stones like unto the first; and Mosheh rose up early in the morning, and went up unto Mount Ciynai, as Yahuah had commanded him, and took in his hand the two caphire stones. 5 And Yahuah descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of Yahuah. 6 And Yahuah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Yahuah, Yahuah El, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. 8 And Mosheh made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. 9 And he said: If now I have found grace in your sight, O Adonai, let my Adonai, I pray you, go among us; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.
10 And he said: Behold, I cut a covenant: before all your people I will do wonders, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which you are shall see the work of Yahuah: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with you. 11 Guard את that which I command you this day: behold, I drive out before you the Emoriy, and the Kena`aniy, and the Chittiy, and the Perizziy, and the Chivviy, and the Yevuciy. 12 Take heed to yourself, lest you cut a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you: 13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their Asherah poles: 14 For you shall worship no other el: for Yahuah Qanna is my name; he is a jealous El: 15 Lest you cut a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their elohiym, and do sacrifice unto their elohiym, and one call you, and you eat of his sacrifice; 16 And take of their daughters unto your sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their elohiym, and make your sons go a whoring after their elohiym. 17 You shall make no molten elohai.
18 The Feast of Matstsah shall you guard. Seven days you shall eat matstsah, as I commanded you, in the time of the month Aviyv: for in the month Aviyv you came out from Mitsrayim. 19 All that opens the womb is mine; and every firstling among your cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male. 20 But the firstling of an ass you shall redeem with a lamb: and if you redeem him not, then shall you break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
21 Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in earing time and in harvest you shall rest.
22 And you shall observe the Feast of Qatsiyr, of the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Aciyph at the year's end.
23 Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before Adonai Yahuah, the Elohai of Yashar'el. 24 For I will cast out the nations before you and enlarge your borders: neither shall any man desire your land, when you shall go up to appear before Yahuah Elohayka thrice in the year. 25 You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the Feast of the Pecach be left unto the morning. 26 The first of the first fruits of your land you shall bring unto the house of Yahuah Elohayka. You shall not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. 27 And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: Write these words: for after the tenor of these words I have cut a covenant with you and with Yashar'el. 28 And he was there with Yahuah forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the caphires את the words of the covenant, the Ten Devariym.
29 And it came to pass, when Mosheh came down from Mount Ciynai with the two caphires of testimony in Mosheh's hand, when he came down from the Mount, that Mosheh knew not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. 30 And when Aharon and all the children of Yashar'el saw Mosheh, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him. 31 And Mosheh called unto them; and Aharon and all the rulers of the assembly returned unto him: and Mosheh talked with them. 32 And afterward all the children of Yashar'el came nigh: and he gave them in commandment את all that Yahuah had spoken with him in Mount Ciynai. 33 And till Mosheh had done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. 34 But when Mosheh went in before Yahuah to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out. And he came out and spoke unto the children of Yashar'el את which he was commanded. 35 And the children of Yashar'el saw the face of Mosheh, that the skin of Mosheh's face shone: and Mosheh put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
Haftarah: Yechezq'el (Ezekiel) 38:18 - 39:16
18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Yashar’el, says Adonai Yahuah, that my fury shall come up in my face. 19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken: Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Yashar’el; 20 So that the fish of the sea, and the fowls of the heavens, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. 21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, says Adonai Yahuah: every man's sword shall be against his brother. 22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus will I magnify myself and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am Yahuah.
CHAPTER 39
Therefore, son of A’dam, prophesy against Gog, and say: Thus says Adonai Yahuah; Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal: 2 And I will turn you back, and leave but the sixth part of you, and will cause you to come up from the north parts, and will bring you upon the mountains of Yashar’el: 3 And I will smite your bow out of your left hand, and will cause your arrows to fall out of your right hand. 4 You shall fall upon the mountains of Yashar’el, you, and all your bands, and the people that is with you: I will give you unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. 5 You shall fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, says Adonai Yahuah. 6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am Yahuah. 7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Yashar’el; and I will not let them pollute my holy name anymore: and the heathen shall know that I am Yahuah, the Holy One in Yashar’el.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, says Adonai Yahuah; this is the day whereof I have spoken. 9 And they that dwell in the cities of Yashar’el shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the hand staves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: 10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, says Adonai Yahuah.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Yashar’el, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it, The valley of Hamon Gog. 12 And seven months shall the house of Yashar’el be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land. 13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, says Adonai Yahuah. 14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search. 15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any sees a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamon Gog. 16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
Besorah: Luqas (Luke) 20:1 - 21:38
And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the Temple, and preached the Besorah, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, 2 And spoke unto him, saying: Tell us, by what authority do you these things? Or who is he who gave you this authority? 3 And he answered and said unto them: I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: 4 The baptism of Yahuchanon, was it from heaven, or of men? 5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying: If we shall say: From heaven; he will say: Why then believed ye him not? 6 But and if we say: Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that Yahuchanon was a prophet. 7 And they answered that they could not tell whence it was. 8 And Yahusha said unto them: Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 9 Then he began to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. 10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him and sent him away empty. 11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. 12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also and cast him out. 13 Then said the adoniy of the vineyard: What shall I do? I will send my yachiyd: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. 14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying: This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. 15 So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. What therefore shall the adoniy of the vineyard do unto them? 16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said: Far be it. 17 And he beheld them, and said: What is this then that is written,
The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. 20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. 21 And they asked him, saying: Rabbi, we know that you say and teach rightly, neither accept you the person of any, but teach the Way of Elohiym truly: 22 Is it Lawful for us to give tribute unto Qeycar, or no? 23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them: Why tempt ye me? 24 show me a penny. Whose image and superscription has it? They answered and said, Qeycar's. 25 And he said unto them: Render therefore unto Qeycar the things which be Qeycar's, and unto Elohiym the things which be Elohiym’s. 26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marveled at his answer and held their peace.
27 Then came to him certain of the Tsadoqiym, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, 28 Saying, Rabbi, Mosheh wrote unto us: If any man's brother die, having a woman, and he die without children, that his brother should take his woman, and raise up seed unto his brother. 29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a woman and died without children. 30 And the second took her to be his woman, and he died childless. 31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children and died. 32 Last of all the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the resurrection of them, whose woman is she? For seven had her as his woman. 34 And Yahusha answering said unto them: The children of this world marry and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die anymore: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of Elohiym, being the children of the resurrection. 37 Now that the dead are raised, even Mosheh showed at the thorn bush, when he calls Yahuah the Elohiym of Avraham, and the Elohiym of Yitschaq, and the Elohiym of Ya`aqov. 38 For he is not an Elohiym of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Rabbi, you have well said. 40 And after that they dared not ask him any question at all. 41 And he said unto them: How say they that Mashiach is David’s son? 42 And David himself said in the Cepher of Tehilliym,
Yahuah said unto my Adonai: Sit on my right hand, 43 Till I make your enemies your footstool.
44 David therefore calls him Adonai, how is he then his son?
45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his Talmidiym, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
CHAPTER 21
And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. 3 And he said: Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than they all: 4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of Elohiym: but she of her penury has cast in all the living that she had.
5 And as some spoke of the Temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6 את As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 7 And they asked him, saying: Rabbi, but when shall these things be? And what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? 8 And he said: Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying: I am Mashiach; and the time draws near: go ye not therefore after them. 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. 10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. 13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. 16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18 But there shall not a hair of your head perish. 19 In your patience possess ye את your souls. 20 And when ye shall see Yerushalayim compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let them which are in Yahud flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Yerushalayim shall be trodden down of the other nations, until the times of the other nations be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of A’dam coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh. 29 And he spoke to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the Kingdom of Elohiym is nigh at hand. 32 Amein I say unto you: This nation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all of them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of A’dam. 37 And in the daytime, he was teaching in the Temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the Mount of Olives. 38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the Temple, for to hear him.
