Parshat: Devariym (Deuteronomy) 32:1-52
Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: 3 Because I will publish the name of Yahuah: ascribe ye greatness unto our Elohiym. 4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: An El of Truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. 5 They have corrupted themselves their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. 6 Do ye thus requite Yahuah, O foolish people and unwise? Is not he your Father that has bought you? Has he not made you, and established you?
7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you. 8 When El Elyon divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of men, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Yashar’el. 9 For Yahuah’s portion is his people; Ya`aqov is the lot of his inheritance. 10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. 11 As an eagle stirs up her nest, flutters over her young, spreads abroad her wings, takes them, bears them on her wings: 12 So Yahuah alone did lead him, and there was no strange el with him. 13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; 14 Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and you did drink the pure blood of the grape.
15 But Yasharun waxed fat, and kicked: you are waxen fat, you are grown thick, you are covered with fatness; then he forsook Eloah which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his yeshu`ah. 16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange elohiym, with abominations provoked they him to anger. 17 They sacrificed unto Shediym, not to Eloah; to elohiym whom they knew not, to new elohiym that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock that begat you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten El that formed you.
19 And when Yahuah saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not El; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn unto the lowest She’ol, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them. 24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. 25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men: 27 Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say: Our hand is high, and Yahuah has not done all this. 28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. 29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! 30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and Yahuah had shut them up? 31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32 For their vine is of the vine of Cedom, and of the fields of Amorah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: 33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. 34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? 35 To me belongs vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. 36 For Yahuah shall judge his people, and sigh for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
37 And he shall say: Where are their elohiym, their rock in whom they trusted, 38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you and be your protection. 39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no elohiym with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. 40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live forever. 41 If I whet my glittering sword, and my hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my enemies and will reward them that hate me. 42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy. 43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
44 And Mosheh came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Husha the son of Nun. 45 And Mosheh made an end of speaking all these words to all Yashar’el: 46 And he said unto them: Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to guard to do, all the words of this Torah. 47 For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over the Yardan to possess it.
48 And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh that selfsame day, saying: 49 Get you up into this mountain Avariym, unto Mount Nevu, which is in the land of Mo’av, that is over against Yeriycho; and behold the land of Kena`an, which I give unto the children of Yashar’el for a possession: 50 And die in the mount whither you go up, and be gathered unto your people; as Aharon your brother died in Mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people: 51 Because ye transgressed against me among the children of Yashar’el at the waters of Meriyvah- Qadesh, in the wilderness of Tsin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Yashar’el. 52 Yet you shall see the land before you; but you shall not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Yashar’el.
Haftorah: Shemu’el Sheniy (2 Samuel) 22:1-51
And David spoke unto Yahuah the words of this song in the day that Yahuah had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Sha’ul: 2 And he said,
Yahuah is my Rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 3 The Elohai of my Rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my yeshu`ah, my high tower, and my refuge, my Savior; you save me from violence. 4 I will call on Yahuah, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies. 5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of wicked men made me afraid; 6 The sorrows of She’ol compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me; 7 In my distress I called upon Yahuah and cried to my Elohiym: and he did hear my voice out of his Temple, and my cry did enter into his ears. 8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth. 9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. 10 He bowed the heavens also and came down; and darkness was under his feet. 11 And he rode upon a Keruv and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind. 12 And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies. 13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled. 14 Yahuah thundered from heaven, and El Elyon uttered his voice. 15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them. 16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of Yahuah, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. 17 He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters; 18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. 19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but Yahuah was my stay. 20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me. 21 Yahuah rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me. 22 For I have guarded the ways of Yahuah and have not wickedly departed from my Elohiym. 23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them. 24 I was also upright before him and have guarded myself from my iniquity. 25 Therefore Yahuah has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in his eyesight. 26 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful, and with the upright man you will show yourself upright. 27 With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the froward you will show yourself unsavory. 28 And the afflicted people you will save: but your eyes are upon the haughty, that you may bring them down. 29 For you are my lamp, O Yahuah: and Yahuah will lighten my darkness. 30 For by you I have run through a troop: by my Elohiym have I leaped over a wall. 31 As for Elohiym, his way is perfect; the Word of Yahuah is tried: he is a buckler to all of them that trust in him. 32 For who is Elohiym, save Yahuah? And who is a rock, save our Elohiym? 33 Elohiym is my strength and power: and he makes my way perfect. 34 He makes my feet like hinds' feet: and sets me upon my high places. 35 He teaches my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms. 36 You have also given me the shield of your yeshu`ah: and your gentleness has made me great. 37 You have enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip. 38 I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them. 39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet. 40 For you have girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me have you subdued under me. 41 You have also given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. 42 They looked, but there was none to save; even unto El-Yahuah, but he answered them not. 43 Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street and did spread them abroad. 44 You also have delivered me from the strivings of my people, you have guarded me to be head of the heathen: a people who I knew not shall serve me. 45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me. 46 Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places. 47 Yahuah lives; and blessed be my Rock; and exalted be the Elohai of the Rock of my yeshu`ah. 48 It is Elohiym that avenges me, and that brings down the people under me, 49 And that brings me forth from my enemies: you also have lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: you have delivered me from the violent man. 50 Therefore I will give thanks unto you, O Yahuah, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto your name. 51 He is the tower of yeshu`ah for his king: and shows mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed forevermore.
Besorah: Yochanon (John) 20:26 - 21:25
26 And after eight days again his Talmidiym were within, and Ta’om with them: then came Yahusha, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then he said to Ta’om: Reach hither your finger and behold my hands; and reach hither your hand and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless but believing. 28 And Ta’om answered and said unto him: My Adonai and my Elohiym. 29 Yahusha said unto him: Ta’om, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30 And many other signs truly did Yahusha in the presence of his Talmidiym, which are not written in this cepher: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Yahusha is Ha’Mashiach, the Son of Elohiym; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
CHAPTER 21
After these things Yahusha showed himself again to the Talmidiym at the Sea of Tiveriyah; and on this wise showed he himself. 2 There were together Shim`on Kepha, and Ta’om called Didymus, and Nethan’el of Qanah in Galiyl, and the sons of Zavdiy, and two others of his Talmidiym. 3 Shim`on Kepha said unto them: I go a fishing. They say unto him: We also go with you. They went forth and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning was now come, Yahusha stood on the shore: but the Talmidiym knew not that it was Yahusha. 5 Then Yahusha said unto them: Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. 6 And he said unto them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fish. 7 Therefore that Talmiyd whom Yahusha loved said unto Kepha: It is Adonai. Now when Shim`on Kepha heard that it was Adonai, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. 8 And the other Talmidiym came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fish. 9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. 10 Yahusha said unto them: Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. 11 Shim`on Kepha went up and drew the net to land full of great fish, a hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many yet was not the net broken. 12 Yahusha said unto them: Come and dine. And none of the Talmidiym dared ask him: Who are you? Knowing that it was Adonai. 13 Yahusha then comes, and takes bread, and gives them, and fish likewise. 14 This is now the third time that Yahusha showed himself to his Talmidiym, after that he was risen from the dead.
15 So when they had dined, Yahusha said to Shim`on Kepha: Shim`on, son of Yonah, do you love me more than these? He said unto him: Yea, Adonai; you know that I love you. He said unto him: Feed my lambs. 16 He said to him again the second time: Shim`on, son of Yonah, do you love me? He said unto him: Yea, Adonai; you know that I love you. He said unto him: Feed my sheep. 17 He said unto him the third time: Shim`on, son of Yonah, do you love me? Kepha was grieved because he said unto him the third time: Do you love me? And he said unto him: Adonai, you know all things; you know that I love you. Yahusha said unto him: Feed my sheep. 18 Amein, Amein, I say unto you: When you were young, you girded yourself, and walked whither you would: but when you shall be old, you shall stretch forth your hands, and another shall gird you, and carry you whither you would not. 19 This spoke he, signifying by what death he should glorify Elohiym. And when he had spoken this, he said unto him: Follow me. 20 Then Kepha, turning about, sees the Talmiyd whom Yahusha loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said: Adonai, who is he who betrays you? 21 Kepha seeing him said to Yahusha, Adonai, and what shall this man do? 22 Yahusha said unto him: If I will that he tarries till I come, what is that to you? Follow me. 23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that Talmiyd should not die: yet Yahusha said not unto him: He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarries till I come, what is that to you? 24 This is the Talmiyd which testifies of these things and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things which Yahusha did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the cepheriym that should be written. Amein.
