Weekly Torah Portion

It is considered a great joy to study the Torah via the portions that were set out by Ezra to read through the Cepheriym Mosheh (Five Books of Moses), also referred to as the Pentateuch. In addition to the traditional Torah portions, we have also included weekly readings from the Haftorah (Prophets) and the Besorah (Gospels). These portions are also collectively available in our publication titled Parshat; a hardcover perpetual book for annual study. Parshat: Vayiqra (Leviticus) 19:1 - 20:27

AND Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 2 Speak unto all the assembly of the children of Yashar'el, and say unto them: Ye shall be holy: for I Yahuah Elohaykem am holy.

3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and guard my Shabbaths: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

4 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten elohiym: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

5 And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto Yahuah, ye shall offer it at your own will. 6 It shall be eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought remains until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire. 7 And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted. 8 Therefore everyone that eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned the hallowed thing of Yahuah: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 And you shall not glean your vineyard, neither shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and stranger: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

12 And ye shall not swear seven oaths by my name falsely, neither shall you profane the name of your Elohiym: I am Yahuah.

13 You shall not defraud your neighbor, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with you all night until the morning.

14 You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your Elohiym: I am Yahuah.

15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: you shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

16 You shall not go up and down as a talebearer among your people: neither shall you stand against the blood of your neighbor: I am Yahuah.

17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart: you shall in any wise rebuke your neighbor, and not suffer sin upon him.

18 You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am Yahuah.

19 Ye shall guard my statutes. You shall not let your cattle gender with a diverse kind: you shall not sow your field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon you.

20 And whosoever lies carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to a man, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. 21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto Yahuah, unto the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly, even a ram for a trespass offering. 22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before Yahuah for his sin which he has done: and the sin which he has done shall be forgiven him.

23 And when ye shall come into the land and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. 24 But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise Yahuah withal. 25 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

26 Ye shall not eat anything with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor practice sorcery. 27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shall you mar את the corners of your beard. 28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am Yahuah.

29 Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.

30 Ye shall guard my Shabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Yahuah.

31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

32 You shall rise up before the gray head, and honor the face of the old man, and fear your Elohiym: I am Yahuah.

33 And if a stranger sojourn with you in your land, ye shall not vex him. 34 But the stranger that dwells with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for ye were strangers in the land of Mitsrayim: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am Yahuah Elohaykem, which brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim. 37 Therefore shall ye guard all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am Yahuah.

Chapter 20

And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 2 Again, you shall say to the children of Yashar'el: Whosoever he be of the children of Yashar'el, or of the strangers that sojourn in Yashar'el, that gives any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3 And I will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people; because he has given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. 4 And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he gives of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: 5 Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and את all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.

6 And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

7 Sanctify yourselves therefore and be ye holy: for I am Yahuah Elohaykem. 8 And ye shall guard my statutes and do them: I am Yahuah Meqoddishkem.

9 For everyone that curses his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

10 And the man that breaks wedlock with another man's woman, even he that breaks wedlock with his neighbor's woman, the adulterer and adulteress shall surely be put to death. 11 And the man that lies with his father's woman has uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 12 And if a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them. 13 If a man also lies with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 14 And if a man takes a woman and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you. 15 And if a man lies with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast. 16 And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, you shall kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 17 And if a man shall take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he has uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity. 18 And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness and shall uncover her nakedness; he has discovered her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people. 19 And you shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, nor of your father's sister: for he uncovers his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity. 20 And if a man shall lie with his uncle's woman, he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. 21 And if a man shall take his brother's woman, it is an unclean thing: he has uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless.

22 Ye shall therefore guard all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out. 23 And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. 24 But I have said unto you: Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that flows with milk and honey: I am Yahuah Elohaykem, which have separated you from other people. 25 Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean. 26 And ye shall be holy unto me: for I Yahuah am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

27 A man also or woman that has a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

Haftarah:  Amoc (Amos) 9:7-15; Yechezq'el 20:2-20

7 Are ye not as children of the Kushiym unto me, O children of Yashar'el? Says Yahuah. Have not I brought up Yashar'el out of the land of Mitsrayim? And the Pelishtiym from Kaphtor, and the Arammiym from Qiyr? 8 Behold, the eyes of Adonai Yahuah are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Ya'aqov, says Yahuah. 9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Yashar'el among all nations, like as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. 10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say: The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

11 In that day will I raise up the cukkah of Daviyd that is fallen and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, says Yahuah that does this. 13 Behold, the days come, says Yahuah, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. 14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Yashar'el, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, says Yahuah Elohayka.

Yechezq'el 20:2-20

2 Then came the Word of Yahuah unto me, saying: 3 Son of A'dam, speak unto the elders of Yashar'el, and say unto them: Thus says Adonai Yahuah; Are ye come to inquire of me? As I live, says Adonai Yahuah, I will not be inquired of by you. 4 Will you judge them, son of A'dam, will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

5 And say unto them: Thus says Adonai Yahuah; In the day when I chose Yashar'el, and lifted up my hand unto the seed of the house of Ya'aqov, and made myself known unto them in the land of Mitsrayim, when I lifted up my hand unto them, saying: I am Yahuah Elohaykem; 6 In the day that I lifted up my hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Mitsrayim into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands: 7 Then said I unto them: Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Mitsrayim: I am Yahuah Elohaykem. 8 But they rebelled against me and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Mitsrayim: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Mitsrayim. 9 But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Mitsrayim.

10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Mitsrayim and brought them into the wilderness. 11 And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgments, which if a man does, he shall even live in them. 12 Moreover also I gave them my Shabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Yahuah that sanctify them. 13 But the house of Yashar'el rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my Shabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. 14 But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. 15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; 16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my Shabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 17 Nevertheless my eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness. 18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness: Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: 19 I am Yahuah Elohaykem; walk in my statutes, and guard my judgments, and do them; 20 And hallow my Shabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

Besorah: Yochanon (John) 7:53 - 10:21

53 And every man went unto his own house.

CHAPTER 8

Yahusha went unto the Mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the Temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Parashiym brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Rabbi, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Mosheh in the Law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Yahusha stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Yahusha was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Yahusha had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her: Woman, where are those your accusers? Has no man condemned you? 11 She said, No man, Adonai. And Yahusha said unto her: Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.

12 Then spoke Yahusha again unto them, saying: I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. 13 The Parashiym therefore said unto him: You bear record of yourself; your record is not true. 14 Yahusha answered and said unto them: Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. 15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. 16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. 17 It is also written in the statutes, describing that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am one that bears witness of myself, and the Father that sent me bears witness of me. 19 Then said they unto him: Where is your Father? Yahusha answered: Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. 20 These words spoke Yahusha in the treasury, as he taught in the Temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. 21 Then said Yahusha again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. 22 Then said the Yahudiym: Will he kill himself? Because he says: Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23 And he said unto them: Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 25 Then said they unto him: Who are you? And Yahusha said unto them: Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. 26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. 27 They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father. 28 Then said Yahusha unto them: When ye have lifted up the Son of A'dam, then shall ye know that I am he and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things. 29 And he that sent me is with me: The Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. 30 As he spoke these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Yahusha to those Yahudiym which believed on him: If ye continue in my word, then are ye my Talmidiym indeed; 32 And ye shall know את the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free.

33 They answered him: We are Avraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how say you: Ye shall be made free? 34 Yahusha answered them: Amein, Amein, I say unto you: Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abides not in the house forever: but the Son abides ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. 37 I know that ye are Avraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.

38 I speak that את which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. 39 They answered and said unto him: Avraham is our father. Yahusha said unto them: If ye were Avraham's children, ye would do the works of Avraham. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that has told you the Truth, which I have heard of Elohiym: this did not Avraham. 41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him: We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even Elohiym. 42 Yahusha said unto them: If Elohiym were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from Elohiym; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the Truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the Truth, ye believe me not. 46 Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the Truth, why do ye not believe me? 47 He that is of Elohiym hears Elohiym's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of Elohiym. 48 Then answered the Yahudiym, and said unto him: Say we not well that you are a Shomeroniy, and have a devil? 49 Yahusha answered, I have not a devil; but I honor my Father, and ye do dishonor me. 50 And I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeks and judges. 51 Amein, Amein, I say unto you: If a man guards my word, he shall never see death. 52 Then said the Yahudiym unto him: Now we know that you have a devil. Avraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say: If a man guards my word, he shall never taste of death. 53 Are you greater than our father Avraham, which is dead? And the prophets are dead: whom do you make yourself? 54 Yahusha answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honors me; of whom ye say, that he is your Elohiym: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him and guard his word. 56 Your father Avraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it and was glad. 57 Then said the Yahudiym unto him: You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Avraham? 58 Yahusha said unto them: Amein, Amein, I say unto you: Before Avraham was, I AM. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Yahusha hid himself, and went out of the Temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

9 And as Yahusha passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his Talmidiym asked him, saying: Rabbi, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Yahusha answered: Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of Elohiym should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And said unto him: Go, wash in the pool of Shiloach, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

8 The neighbors therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said: Is not this he that sat and begged? 9 Some said: This is he: others said: He is like him: but he said, I am he. 10 Therefore said they unto him: How were your eyes opened? 11 He answered and said: A man that is called Yahusha made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said unto me: Go to the pool of Shiloach, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. 12 Then said they unto him: Where is he? He said, I know not.

13 They brought to the Parashiym him that aforetime was blind. 14 And it was the Shabbath when Yahusha made the clay and opened his eyes. 15 Then again, the Parashiym also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them: He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and do see. 16 Therefore said some of the Parashiym: This man is not of Elohiym, because he guards not the Shabbath. Others said: How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. 17 They say unto the blind man again: What say you of him, that he has opened your eyes? He said: He is a prophet. 18 But the Yahudiym did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying: Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? How then does he now see? 20 His parents answered them and said: We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: 21 But by what means he now sees, we know not; or who has opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. 22 These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Yahudiym: for the Yahudiym had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Mashiach, he should be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore said his parents: He is of age; ask him. 24 Then again called they the man that was blind and said unto him: Give Elohiym the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. 25 He answered and said: Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. 26 Then said they to him again: What did he to you? How opened he your eyes? 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? Will ye also be his Talmidiym? 28 Then they reviled him and said: You are his Talmiyd; but we are Mosheh's Talmidiym. 29 We know that Elohiym spoke unto Mosheh: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. 30 The man answered and said unto them: Why herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he has opened my eyes. 31 Now we know that Elohiym hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of Elohiym, and does his will, him he hears. 32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. 33 If this man were not of Elohiym, he could do nothing. 34 They answered and said unto him: You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out. 35 Yahusha heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him: Do you believe on the Son of Elohiym? 36 He answered and said: Who is he, Adonai, that I might believe on him? 37 And Yahusha said unto him: You have both seen him, and it is he who talks with you. 38 And he said: Adonai, I believe. And he worshipped him.

39 And Yahusha said: For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. 40 And some of the Parashiym which were with him heard these words, and said unto him: Are we blind also? 41 Yahusha said unto them: If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say: We see; therefore your sin remains.

10 Amein, Amein, I say unto you: He that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that enters in by the door is the Shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 6 This parable spoke Yahusha unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spoke unto them. 7 Then said Yahusha unto them again: Amein, Amein, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me if any man enters in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep. 12 But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep. 13 The hireling flees, because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep. 14 I am the Good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and את am known of mine. 15 As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold and one Shepherd. 17 Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

19 There was a division therefore again among the Yahudiym for these sayings. 20 And many of them said: He has a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him? 21 Others said: These are not the words of him that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
