Torah Portion: Nitsaviym
Parshat: Devariym (Deuteronomy) 29:10 - 30:20
Ye stand this day all of you before Yahuah Elohaykem; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Yashar’el, 11 Your little ones, your women, and your stranger that is in your camp, from the hewer of your wood unto the drawer of your water: 12 That you should enter into covenant with Yahuah Elohayka, and into his oath, which Yahuah Elohayka cuts with you this day: 13 That he may establish you today for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto you Elohiym, as he has said unto you, and as he has sworn seven oaths unto your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitschaq, and to Ya`aqov. 14 Neither with you only do I cut this covenant and this oath; 15 But with him that stands here with us this day before Yahuah Elohaynu, and את also with him that is not here with us this day: 16 (For ye know את how we have dwelt in the land of Mitsrayim; and את how we came through the nations which ye passed by; 17 And ye have seen their abominations, and את their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:) 18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from Yahuah Elohaynu, to go and serve the elohai of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; 19 And it come to pass, when he hears the words of this curse that he bless himself in his heart, saying: I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: 20 Yahuah will not spare him, but then the anger of Yahuah and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this cepher shall lie upon him, and Yahuah shall blot out his name from under heaven.
21 And Yahuah shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Yashar’el, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this Cepher of the Torah: 22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which Yahuah has laid upon it; 23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Cedom, and Amorah, Admah, and Tseviyiym, which Yahuah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: 24 Even all nations shall say: Wherefore has Yahuah done thus unto this land? What means the heat of this great anger? 25 Then men shall say: Because they have forsaken the covenant of Yahuah Elohai of their fathers, which he cut with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Mitsrayim: 26 For they went and served other elohiym, and worshipped them, elohiym whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: 27 And the anger of Yahuah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this cepher: 28 And Yahuah rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day. 29 The secrets of Yahuah Elohaynu are given to his children and their sons forever and ever, that they may observe every word of the Torah.
CHAPTER 30
And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, whither Yahuah Elohayka has driven you, 2 And shall return unto Yahuah Elohayka, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul; 3 That then Yahuah Elohayka will turn your captivity, and have compassion upon you, and will return and gather you from all the nations, whither Yahuah Elohayka has scattered you. 4 If any of yours be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will Yahuah Elohayka gather you, and from thence will he fetch you: 5 And Yahuah Elohayka will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and he will do you good and multiply you above your fathers. 6 And Yahuah Elohayka will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Yahuah Elohayka with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live. 7 And Yahuah Elohayka will put את all these curses upon your enemies, and on them that hate you, which persecuted you. 8 And you shall return and obey the voice of Yahuah and do all his commandments which I command you this day. 9 And Yahuah Elohayka will make you plenteous in every work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your land, for good: for Yahuah will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers: 10 If you shall hearken unto the voice of Yahuah Elohayka, to guard his commandments and his statutes which are written in this Cepher of the Torah, and if you turn unto El-Yahuah Elohayka with all your heart, and with all your soul.
11 For this commandment which I command you this day, it is not hidden from you, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say: Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say: Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 14 But the word is very nigh unto you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it.
15 See, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil; 16 In that I command you this day to love Yahuah Elohayka, to walk in his ways, and to guard his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that you may live and multiply: and Yahuah Elohayka shall bless you in the land whither you go to possess it. 17 But if your heart turn away, so that you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other elohiym, and serve them; 18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither you pass over the Yardan to go to possess it. 19 I call the heavens and the earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live: 20 That you may love Yahuah Elohayka, and that you may obey his voice, and that you may cleave unto him: for he is your life, and the length of your days: that you may dwell in the land which Yahuah swore seven oaths unto your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitschaq, and to Ya`aqov, to give them.
Haftorah: Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 61:10 - 63:9
I will greatly rejoice in Yahuah, my soul shall be joyful in my Elohiym; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the earth brings forth her bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so Adonai Yahuah will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
CHAPTER 62
For Tsiyon’s sake will I not hold my peace and for Yerushalayim's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof goes forth as brightness, and yeshu`ah thereof as a lamp that burns. 2 And the other nations shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory: and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of Yahuah shall name. 3 You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of Yahuah, and a royal diadem in the hand of your Elohiym. 4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land anymore be termed Desolate: but you shall be called Chephtsiy-Bahh, and your land Beulah for Yahuah delights in you, and your land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you: and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your Elohiym rejoice over you. 6 I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Yerushalayim, which shall never hold their peace, day nor night: ye that make mention of Yahuah, keep not silence, 7 And give him no rest, till he establishes, and he makes Yerushalayim a praise in the earth. 8 Yahuah has sworn seven oaths by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength: Surely I will no more give your grain to be meat for your enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink your wine, for the which you have labored: 9 But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise Yahuah; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.
10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people. 11 Behold, Yahuah has proclaimed unto the end of the world: Say ye to the daughter of Tsiyon: Behold, your yeshu`ah comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. 12 And they shall call them: The holy people, The redeemed of Yahuah: and you shall be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
CHAPTER 63
Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Botsrah? This that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Wherefore you are red in your apparel, and your garments like him that treads in the wine fat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in my anger and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore my own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. 6 And I will tread down the people in my anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
7 I will mention the loving kindnesses of Yahuah, and the praises of Yahuah, according to all that Yahuah has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Yashar’el, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses. 8 For he said: Surely, they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Savior. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity, he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old.
Besorah: Luqas (Luke) 24:1-23
Now on that one Shabbath, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in and found not the body of Adonai Yahusha. 4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them: Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here but is risen: את remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galiyl, 7 Saying: The Son of A’dam must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words, 9 And returned from the sepulchre, and את told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 It was Miryam of Migdal, and Yochanah, and Miryam the mother of Ya`aqov, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. 11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. 12 Then arose Kepha, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Yemiym, which was from Yerushalayim about threescore stadion. 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Yahusha himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were held that they should not know him. 17 And he said unto them: What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him: Are you only a stranger in Yerushalayim, and have not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said unto them: What things? And they said unto him: Concerning Yahusha of Natsareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before Elohiym and all the people: 20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death and have crucified him. 21 But we trusted that it had been he who should have redeemed Yashar’el: and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done. 22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying: that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

Parshat: Devariym (Deuteronomy) 31:1–30
AND Mosheh went and spoke these words unto all Yashar’el. 2 And he said unto them: I am a hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no longer go out and come in: also Yahuah has said unto me: You shall not go over this Yardan. 3 Yahuah Elohayka, he will go over before you, and he will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall possess them: and Yahusha, he shall go over before you, as Yahuah has said. 4 And Yahuah shall do unto them as he did to Ciychon and to Og, kings of the Emoriym, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed. 5 And Yahuah shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you. 6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for Yahuah Elohayka, he it is that goes with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.
7 And Mosheh called unto Yahusha and said unto him in the sight of all Yashar’el: Be strong and of a good courage: for you must go with this people unto the land which Yahuah has sworn seven oaths unto their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it. 8 And Yahuah, he it is that goes before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you, neither forsake you: fear not, neither be dismayed.
9 And Mosheh wrote this Torah and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Leviy, which bore the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah, and unto all the elders of Yashar’el. 10 And Mosheh commanded them, saying: At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the Feast of Cukkoth, 11 When all Yashar’el is come to appear before Yahuah Elohayka in the place which he shall choose, you shall read this Torah before all Yashar’el in their hearing. 12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and your stranger that is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Yahuah Elohaykem, and guard to do all the words of this Torah: 13 And that their children, which have not known anything, may hear, and learn to fear Yahuah Elohaykem, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over the Yardan to possess it.
14 And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: Behold, your days approach that you must die: call Yahusha, and present yourselves in the Tabernacle of the assembly, that I may give him a charge. And Mosheh and Yahusha went and presented themselves in the Tabernacle of the assembly. 15 And Yahuah appeared in the Tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the Tabernacle.
16 And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers; and this people will rise up and go a whoring after the elohai of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have cut with them. 17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day: Are not these evils come upon us, because our Elohiym is not among us? 18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other elohiym. 19 Now therefore write ye this song for you and teach it the children of Yashar’el: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Yashar’el. 20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore seven oaths unto their fathers, that flows with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other elohiym, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant. 21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I swore seven oaths.
22 Mosheh therefore wrote this song the same day and taught it the children of Yashar’el. 23 And he gave Yahusha the son of Nun a charge and said: Be strong and of a good courage: for you shall bring the children of Yashar’el into the land which I swore seven oaths unto them: and I will be with you.
24 And it came to pass, when Mosheh had made an end of writing the words of this Torah in a cepher, until they were finished, 25 That Mosheh commanded the Leviyiym, which bore the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah, saying: 26 Take את this Cepher of the Torah, and put it in the side of the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah Elohaykem, that it may be there for a witness against you. 27 For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against Yahuah; and how much more after my death?
28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, את and call the heavens and the earth to record against them. 29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of Yahuah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. 30 And Mosheh spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Yashar’el the words of this song, until they were ended.
Haftorah: Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 64:1-12
O that you would rend the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might flow down at your presence, 2 As when the melting fire burns, the fire causes the waters to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence! 3 When you did terrible things which we looked not for, you came down, the mountains flowed down at your presence. 4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O Elohiym, beside you, what he has prepared for him that waits for him. 5 You meet him that rejoices and works righteousness, those that remember you in your ways: behold, you are wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. 6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 7 And there is none that calls upon your name, that stirs up himself to take hold of you: for you have hid your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities. 8 But now, O Yahuah, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.
9 Be not wroth very sore, O Yahuah, neither remember iniquity forever: behold, see, we beseech you, we are all your people. 10 Your holy cities are a wilderness, Tsiyon is a wilderness, Yerushalayim a desolation. 11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised you, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste. 12 Will you refrain yourself for these things, O Yahuah? Will you hold your peace, and afflict us very sore?
Besorah: Luqas (Luke) 24:24-43
And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25 Then he said unto them: O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Mashiach to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Mosheh and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. 29 But they constrained him, saying: Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. 30 And it came to pass, as he sat to eat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and broke, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32 And they said one to another: Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us את the Scriptures? 33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Yerushalayim, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34 Saying: Adonai is risen indeed, and has appeared to Shim`on. 35 And they told what things את were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
36 And as they thus spoke, Yahusha himself stood in the midst of them, and said unto them: Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and frightened and supposed that they had seen a ruach. 38 And he said unto them: Why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a ruach has not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them את his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them: Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb. 43 And he took it and did eat before them.
