Continuing with our discussion concerning the testimony of Leviy as set forth in the book The Testimony of the Twelve Patriarchs, let us consider Leviy’s admonition:
And now, my children, I command you: Fear YAHUAH your ELOHIYM with your whole heart, And walk in simplicity according to all His Torah. 2 And do ye also teach your children letters, that they may have understanding all their life, reading unceasingly the Torah of ELOHIYM. 3 For every one that knows the Torah of YAHUAH shall be honored, and shall not be a stranger whithersoever he goes. 4 Yea, many friends shall he gain more than his parents, and many men shall desire to serve him, and to hear the Torah from his mouth. 5 Work righteousness, therefore, my children, upon the earth, that ye may have (it) as a treasure in heaven. 6 And sow good things in your souls, that ye may find them in your life. But if ye sow evil things, ye shall reap every trouble and affliction. 7 Get wisdom in the fear of ELOHIYM with diligence; For though there be a leading into captivity, And cities and lands be destroyed, And gold and silver and every possession perish, the wisdom of the wise no one can take away, save the blindness of ungodliness, and the callousness (that comes) of sin. 8 For if one keeps oneself from these evil things, then even among his enemies shall wisdom be a glory to him; And in a strange country a fatherland, And in the midst of foes shall prove a friend.
I love this teaching. Walk in simplicity according to all His Torah. There is eloquent advice. Teach your children letters (teach your children to read), that they may have understanding all their life. Again, more poignant advice. However, Leviy obtains also an understanding of the days to come:
Therefore, my children, I have learned that at the end of the ages ye will transgress against YAHUAH, stretching out hands to wickedness [against Him]; and to all the other people shall ye become a scorn. For our father Yisra’el is pure from the transgressions of the chief priests who shall lay their hands upon the Savior of the world. For as the heaven is purer in the sight of YAHUAH than the earth, so also be ye, the lights of Yisra’el, (purer) than all the other people. But if ye be darkened through transgressions, what, therefore, will all the other people do living in blindness?
This admonition is such a gift, for it calls the sons of Leviy to be the lights of Yisra’el, pure from the transgression against YAHUAH. This word transgression (pasha in the Hebrew) is an interesting word also in English. To transgress is to cross over; to cross over from righteousness, which as we have seen is acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with YAH, to wickedness and iniquity. Leviy then discusses before his sons the eventual outcome of such transgression:
Yea, ye shall bring a curse upon our race, because the light of the Torah which was given for to lighten every man this ye desire to destroy by teaching commandments contrary to the ordinances of ELOHIYM. The offerings of YAHUAH ye shall rob, and from His portion shall ye steal choice portions, eating (them) contemptuously with harlots. And out of covetousness ye shall teach the commandments of YAHUAH, wedded women shall ye pollute, and the virgins of Jerusalem shall ye defile: and with harlots and adulteresses shall ye be joined, and the daughters of the other people shall ye take to wife, purifying them with an unlawful purification; and your union shall be like unto Sodom and Gomorrah. And ye shall be puffed up because of your priesthood, lifting yourselves up against men, and not only so, but also against the commands of ELOHIYM. For ye shall condemn the holy things with jests and laughter.
Therefore the temple, which YAHUAH shall choose, shall be laid waste through your uncleanness, and ye shall be captives throughout all nations. And ye shall be an abomination unto them, and ye shall receive reproach and everlasting shame from the righteous judgment of ELOHIYM. And all who hate you shall rejoice at your destruction. And if you were not to receive mercy through Avraham, Isaac, and Ya’akov, our fathers, not one of our seed should be left upon the earth.
Before I finalize this series on the Leviyim by disclosing who I believe the Leviyim are in modernity, let us consider what is said immediately above. The Leviyim are condemned here by Leviy himself saying that his sons desire to destroy the Torah by teaching commandments contrary to the ordinances of ELOHIYM. Mashiach came to say the very same thing:
Besorah Mattithyahu 23
THEN spoke YAHUSHA to the multitude, and to his Talmidiym, 2 Saying, The scribes and the Parashiym sit in Mosheh’s seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever he bids you guard, that diligently guard and do; but do not ye after their reforms and traditions: for they say, and do not. 4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the tsiytsiyt of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even HAMASHIACH; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your Father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called mas-ters: for one is your Master, even HAMASHIACH. 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt him-self shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye shut up את eth the Kingdom of YAHUAH against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. 15 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of Gey Hinnom than yourselves. 16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the Temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the Temple, he is a debtor! 17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the Temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever swears by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. 19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things thereon. 21 And whoso shall swear by the Temple, swears by it, and by him that dwells therein. 22 And he that shall swear by heaven, swears by the throne of YAHUAH, and by him that sits thereon. 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted את eth the weightier matters of the Torah, Judgment, Mercy, and Faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave את eth the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain את eth at a gnat, and swallow את eth a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 You blind Parashiy, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. 32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of Gey Hinnom?
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Hevel unto the blood of Zakaryahu son of Berekya-hu, whom ye slew between the Temple and the altar. 36 Amein I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. 37 O Yerushalayim, Yerushalayim, you that kill the prophets, and stone them את eth which are sent unto you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of YAHUAH.
