Glorify your name

Yesha`yahu (Isaiah) 66:5-6
Hear the Word of Yahuah, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let Yahuah be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. 6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the Temple, a voice of Yahuah that renders recompence to his enemies.

There has been a discussion afoot concerning the issue of the “sacred name.” Some feign a great offense that this issue should ever be discussed; others quickly run to their favorite ad hominem safe harbor found in the “sacred namer” moniker, while others who have minds of inquiry seek to know what is actually being said.  Let’s review this topic just a bit.

Yochanon (John) 12:23-32
And Yahusha answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of A’dam should be glorified. 24 Amein, Amein, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit. 25 He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. 27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spoke to him. 30 Yahusha answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. 31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

Now let’s clarify what we are discussing and what we are not discussing. We are discussing the name which is transliterated from the tetragrammaton (YHVH).  We are (at least not yet) discussing the name of the Messiah.

The tetragrammaton (יהוה) is translated in the Greek Septuagint as kyrios (κύριος); and in the Latin Vulgate, it is translated as Domine. But how is it pronounced in the Ivriyt (Hebrew)? Is this a question we should ask? Or should we use a substitute?

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 23:23-30
Am I Elohai at hand, says Yahuah, and not Elohai afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? says Yahuah. Do not I fill את eth-the heavens and את eth-the earth? says Yahuah. 25 I have heard את eth what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. 26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; 27 Which think to cause את eth-my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Ba`al. 28 The prophet that has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to את eth-the wheat? Says Yahuah. 29 Is not my Word like as a fire? says Yahuah; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? 30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says Yahuah, that steal my words everyone from his neighbour.

It is expressly stated that prophets speak out of the deceit of their own heart when they think to cause the people of Yah to forget his name, as their father had also forgotten his name for Ba’al (i.e., Lord). The steal the words of Yahuah!

Yirmeyahu 10:25
Pour out your fury upon the heathen that know you not, and upon the families that call not on your name: for they have eaten up את eth-Ya`aqov, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made את eth-his habitation desolate.

Let us contemplate the fruit of those who call not upon the name, but instead deny the name to you, and demand that you forget the name in favor of the vulgar English substitute Lord. Is the earth restored? Does the community of the believers grow stronger? Or weaker? Does confusion take root in the ambiguity of the word Lord? Given the noise that is the world now, which entity is conclusively being raised? If you are a Mason, you have one answer; if Mormon, another; is Muslim, another; if Jew, yet another. But that is not the end of the confusion.

Marqus (Mark) 8:27
And Yahusha went out, and his את eth-Talmidiym, into the towns of Qeycaryah Philippi: and by the way he asked his Talmidiym, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

Now there are several choices here.  We have those who say, “he was a good teacher, but not a prophet.”

There are those who say, “he was a prophet, but not divine.”

There are those who say, “he is the created Son of God.”

There are those who say, “Yahuah is Yahusha to the glory of Yah the Father” (that would be Pa’al).

This is why the name as it is actually found is important.

Let us continue.  There are those who say that the name is Yeshua – yet there is little support (virtually no scriptural support whatsoever) for this claim, other than to say that Yeshua means salvation. Yet the support for the name Yahusha is overwhelming.  As I have written many times.

Yet at the very center of the gospel is the claim of Philippians 2:11:

Philippiym (Philippians) 2:9-11
Wherefore Yahuah also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Yahusha every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Yahuah is Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, to the glory of Yah the Father.

The difficulty of this truth – and the beauty of this truth; It is the very heart of the gospel.

So, on the cross in English it is written:

Jesus

Of Nazareth

King of the

Jews

In Latin, you have INRI

Iesus

Nazarenus

Rex

Iudaeorum

In Greek, you have INBI

Iesous

Nazoraios

Basileus

ton Ioudaion

But in the Ivriyt, you have YHVH

יהושע

הנצרי

ומלך

היהודים

So, the essential truth – the very essence of the gospel – that the Word was made flesh and tabernacled among us – is completely disguised in the street language of English, but is completely revealed in the Ivriyt.  Does it matter?

Genetics in Scripture
