If, as a pastor or disciple of sacred scripture, a decision has been made to actually study prophecy, there may be many other questions as to how to go about obtaining the best understanding of prophecy. We begin then with the following understanding:
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 29:29
Now the secrets of YAHUAH ELOHAYNU, and the revealing to us and our sons forever, is by observance of את eth-all the words of this Torah.
Here is an instruction which is very straightforward: the secrets of YAH and revealed to every generation by the observance of all of the words of the Torah. Before retreating behind the doctrine of being above the law (or, in other words, not under the law), consider that this is not an offer of salvation through the observance of the Torah, but rather a statement concerning revelation (the revealing) being had through such observance. Before rejecting this as merely the dusty words of Mosheh, consider this admonition from Shalomah (Solomon):
Mishlei (Proverbs) 28:9
He that turns away his ear from hearing the Torah, even his prayer shall be abomination.
Understanding these mysteries of YAH become an important part of the life of the disciples of Mashiach, as discussed at length in the writings of the so-called New Testament. For instance, consider the discussion which follows the parable of the seeds:
Marcus (Mark) 4:9-13
And he said unto them, He that has ears to hear, let him hear. 10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of YAHUAH: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should turn back, and their sins should be forgiven them. 13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? And how then will ye know all parables?
Here then we see that either you are given to know the mystery of the Kingdom, or you are not. This is a pretty serious statement. Those who understand the mystery have ears to hear and eyes to see. Those who do not, see and not perceive, and hear yet do not understand.
Qorentiym Ri’shon (1 Corinthians) 2:1-10
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of YAHUAH. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save YAHUSHA HAMASHIACH, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the RUACH and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of YAH. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of YAH in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which YAHUAH ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified את eth-the YAH of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, את eth the things which YAHUAH has prepared for them that love him. 10 But YAH has revealed them unto us by his RUACH: for the RUACH searches all things, yea, the deep things of YAHUAH.
Here, Sha’ul talks about the hidden wisdom of YAHUAH, a wisdom that the eye has not seen, nor the ear heard, but which is revealed by the Ruach to those who love YAH. But what is the love of YAH?
Yahuchanon (John) 14:15
If ye love me, guard my commandments.
Yahuchanon Ri’shon (1 John( 5:2-3
By this we know that we love the children of ELOHIYM, when we love ELOHIYM, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of ELOHIYM, that we guard his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
This brings full circle back to our instruction of Devariym 29, telling us that the mysteries of YAH will be revealed to those who follow the instructions of the gospel to observe and to guard the commandments of YAH.
So we learn that the remnant of YAH are those who have the testimony of Mashiach and who keep his commandments; the testimony of Mashiach is the spirit of prophecy; and prophecy is understood by the observance and guarding of the commandments. Let us then begin.
