Parshat: Bemidbar (Numbers) 30:2 - 36:13
If a man vows a vow unto Yahuah or swears seven oaths to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth. 3 If a woman also vows a vow unto Yahuah and binds herself by a bond, being in her father's house in her youth; 4 And her father hears her vow, and her bond wherewith she has bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she has bound her soul shall stand. 5 But if her father disallows her in the day that he hears; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she has bound her soul, shall stand: and Yahuah shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her. 6 And if she had at all a man, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul; 7 And her man heard it and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. 8 But if her man disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of no effect: and Yahuah shall forgive her. 9 But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. 10 And if she vowed in her man's house or bound her soul by a bond with an oath; 11 And her man heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. 12 But if her man has utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her man has made them void; and Yahuah shall forgive her. 13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her man may establish it, or her man may make it void. 14 But if her man altogether holds his peace at her from day to day; then he establishes all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirms them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them. 15 But if he shall any ways make them void after that he has heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity. 16 These are the statutes, which Yahuah commanded Mosheh, between a man and his woman, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father's house.
Chapter 31
And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 2 Avenge the children of Yashar’el of the Midyaniym: afterward shall you be gathered unto your people. 3 And Mosheh spoke unto the people, saying: Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midyaniym, and avenge Yahuah of Midyan. 4 Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Yashar’el, shall ye send to the war. 5 So there were delivered out of the thousands of Yashar’el, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. 6 And Mosheh sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Piynechac the son of El`azar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand. 7 And they warred against the Midyaniym, as Yahuah commanded Mosheh; and they slew all the males. 8 And they slew the kings of Midyan, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Eviy, and Reqem, and Tsur, and Choriy, and Reva, five kings of Midyan: את Bil`am also the son of Be`or they slew with the sword. 9 And the children of Yashar’el took all the women of Midyan captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods. 10 And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire. 11 And they took all the spoil, and את all the prey, both of men and of beasts. 12 And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Mosheh, and El`azar the priest, and unto the assembly of the children of Yashar’el, unto the camp at the plains of Mo’av, which are by the Yardan near Yeriycho.
13 And Mosheh, and El`azar the priest, and all the princes of the assembly, went forth to meet them without the camp. 14 And Mosheh was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle. 15 And Mosheh said unto them: Have ye saved all the women alive? 16 Behold, these caused the children of Yashar’el, through the counsel of Bil`am, to commit transgression against Yahuah in the matter of Pe`or, and there was a plague among the assembly of Yahuah. 17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones and kill every woman that has known man by lying with him. 18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. 19 And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever has killed any person, and whosoever has touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day. 20 And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood.
21 And El`azar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle: This is the ordinance of the Torah which Yahuah commanded Mosheh; 22 Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead, 23 Everything that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abides not the fire ye shall make go through the water. 24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.
25 And Yahuah spoke unto El-Mosheh, saying: 26 Take את the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, you, and El`azar the priest, and the chief fathers of the assembly: 27 And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the assembly: 28 And levy a tribute unto Yahuah of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the cattle, and of the asses, and of the sheep: 29 Take it of their half, and give it unto El`azar the priest, for a heave offering of Yahuah. 30 And of the children of Yashar’el's half, you shall take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the cattle, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Leviyiym, which guard the watch of the Tabernacle of Yahuah. 31 And Mosheh and El`azar the priest did as Yahuah commanded Mosheh. 32 And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep, 33 And threescore and twelve thousand cattle, 34 And threescore and one thousand asses, 35 And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him. 36 And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred sheep: 37 And Yahuah’s tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen. 38 And the cattle were thirty and six thousand; of which Yahuah’s tribute was threescore and twelve. 39 And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which Yahuah’s tribute was threescore and one. 40 And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which Yahuah’s tribute was thirty and two persons. 41 And Mosheh gave the tribute, which was Yahuah’s heave offering, unto El`azar the priest, as Yahuah commanded Mosheh. 42 And of the children of Yashar’el's half, which Mosheh divided from the men that warred, 43 (Now the half that pertained unto the assembly was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep, 44 And thirty and six thousand cattle, 45 And thirty thousand asses and five hundred, 46 And sixteen thousand persons;) 47 Even of the children of Yashar’el's half, Mosheh took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Leviyiym, which did guard the watch of the Tabernacle of Yahuah; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.
48 And the officers which were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto El-Mosheh: 49 And they said unto El-Mosheh: Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacks not one man of us. 50 We have therefore brought an oblation for Yahuah, what every man has gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before Yahuah. 51 And Mosheh and El`azar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels. 52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to Yahuah, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty sheqels. 53 (For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.) 54 And Mosheh and El`azar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the Tabernacle of the assembly, for a memorial for the children of Yashar’el before Yahuah.
Chapter 32
Now the children of Re’uven and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Ya`azeyr, and the land of Gil`ad, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle; 2 The children of Gad and the children of Re’uven came and spoke unto Mosheh, and to El`azar the priest, and unto the princes of the assembly, saying: 3 Ataroth, and Diyvon, and Ya`azeyr, and Nimrah, and Cheshbon, and El`aleh, and Sevam, and Nevu, and Be`on, 4 Even the country which Yahuah smote before the assembly of Yashar’el, is a land for cattle, and your servants have cattle: 5 Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in your sight, let this land be given unto your servants for a possession, and bring us not over the Yardan.
6 And Mosheh said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Re’uven: Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here? 7 And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Yashar’el from going over into the land which Yahuah has given them? 8 Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Qadesh Barnea to see the land. 9 For when they went up unto the valley of Eshkol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Yashar’el, that they should not go into the land which Yahuah had given them. 10 And Yahuah’s anger was kindled the same time, and he swore seven oaths, saying: 11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Mitsrayim, from twenty years old and upward, shall see את the land which I swore seven oaths unto Avraham, unto Yitschaq, and unto Ya`aqov; because they have not wholly followed me: 12 Save Kalev the son of Yephunneh the Qenizziy, and Yahusha the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed Yahuah. 13 And Yahuah’s anger was kindled against Yashar’el, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of Yahuah, was consumed. 14 And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Yahuah toward El-Yashar’el. 15 For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.
16 And they came near unto him and said: We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones: 17 But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Yashar’el, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land. 18 We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Yashar’el have inherited every man his inheritance. 19 For we will not inherit with them on yonder side of the Yardan, or forward, because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Yardan eastward.
20 And Mosheh said unto them: If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before Yahuah to war, 21 And will go all of you armed over the Yardan before Yahuah, until he has driven out his enemies from before him, 22 And the land be subdued before Yahuah: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before Yahuah, and before Yashar’el; and this land shall be your possession before Yahuah. 23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Yahuah: and be sure your sin will find you out. 24 Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth. 25 And the children of Gad and the children of Re’uven spoke unto Mosheh, saying: Your servants will do as my adoniy commands. 26 Our little ones, our women, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gil`ad: 27 But your servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before Yahuah to battle, as my adoniy says.
28 So concerning them Mosheh commanded את El`azar the priest, and את Yahusha the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Yashar’el: 29 And Mosheh said unto them: If the children of Gad and the children of Re’uven will pass with you over the Yardan, every man armed to battle, before Yahuah, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gil`ad for a possession: 30 But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Kena`an. 31 And the children of Gad and the children of Re’uven answered, saying את: As Yahuah has said unto your servants, so will we do. 32 We will pass over armed before Yahuah into the land of Kena`an, that the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Yardan may be ours. 33 And Mosheh gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Re’uven, and unto half the tribe of Menashsheh the son of Yoceph, the kingdom of Ciychon king of the Emoriym, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.
34 And the children of Gad built Diyvon, and Ataroth, and Aro`er, 35 And Atroth, Shophan, and Ya`azeyr, and Yogbehah, 36 And Beyt Nimrah, and Beyt Ha-Ran, fenced cities: and folds for sheep. 37 And the children of Re’uven built Cheshbon, and El`aleh, and Qiryathayim, 38 And Nevu, and Ba`al Me`on, (their names being changed,) and Sevam: and gave other names unto the cities which they built. 39 And the children of Makiyr the son of Menashsheh went to Gil`ad, and took it, and dispossessed the Emoriy which was in it. 40 And Mosheh gave Gil`ad unto Makiyr the son of Menashsheh; and he dwelt therein. 41 And Ya’iyr the son of Menashsheh went and took the small towns thereof and called them Chavvoth Ya`iyr. 42 And Novach went and took Qenath and the villages thereof and called it Novach after his own name.
Chapter 33
These are the journeys of the children of Yashar’el, which went forth out of the land of Mitsrayim with their armies under the hand of Mosheh and Aharon. 2 And Mosheh wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of Yahuah: and these are their journeys according to their goings out. 3 And they departed from Ra`amcec in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the Pecach the children of Yashar’el went out with a high hand in the sight of all the Mitsriym. 4 For the Mitsriym buried all their firstborn, את which Yahuah had smitten among them: upon their elohiym also Yahuah executed judgments. 5 And the children of Yashar’el removed from Ra`amcec and pitched in Cukkoth. 6 And they departed from Cukkoth, and pitched in Etham, which is in the edge of the wilderness. 7 And they removed from Etham, and turned again unto Piy Ha-Chiyroth, which is before Ba`al Tsephon: and they pitched before Migdol. 8 And they departed from before Piy Ha-Chiyroth and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness and went three days' journey in the wilderness of Etham and pitched in Marah. 9 And they removed from Marah and came unto Eylim: and in Eylim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there. 10 And they removed from Eylim and encamped by the Red Sea. 11 And they removed from the Red Sea and encamped in the wilderness of Ciyn. 12 And they took their journey out of the wilderness of Ciyn and encamped in Dophqah. 13 And they departed from Dophqah and encamped in Alush. 14 And they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephiydiym, where was no water for the people to drink. 15 And they departed from Rephiydiym and pitched in the wilderness of Ciynai. 16 And they removed from the desert of Ciynai and pitched at Qivrot Hat-Ta’avah. 17 And they departed from Qivrot Hat-Ta’avah and encamped at Chatseroth. 18 And they departed from Chatseroth and pitched in Rithmah. 19 And they departed from Rithmah and pitched at Rimmon Perets. 20 And they departed from Rimmon Perets and pitched in Livnah. 21 And they removed from Livnah and pitched at Riccah. 22 And they journeyed from Riccah and pitched in Qehelathah. 23 And they went from Qehelathah and pitched in Mount Shepher. 24 And they removed from Mount Shepher and encamped in Charadah. 25 And they removed from Charadah and pitched in Maqheloth. 26 And they removed from Maqheloth and encamped at Tachath. 27 And they departed from Tachath and pitched at Terach. 28 And they removed from Terach and pitched in Mithqah. 29 And they went from Mithqah and pitched in Chashmonah. 30 And they departed from Chashmonah and encamped at Moceroth. 31 And they departed from Moceroth and pitched in Beney Ya`aqan. 32 And they removed from Beney Ya`aqan and encamped at Chor Hag-Gidgad. 33 And they went from Chor Hag-Gidgad and pitched in Yotvathah. 34 And they removed from Yotvathah and encamped at Ebronah. 35 And they departed from Ebronah and encamped at Etsyon Gever. 36 And they removed from Etsyon Gever, and pitched in the wilderness of Tsin, which is Qadesh. 37 And they removed from Qadesh, and pitched in Mount Hor, in the edge of the land of Edom. 38 And Aharon the priest went up into Mount Hor at the commandment of Yahuah, and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Yashar’el were come out of the land of Mitsrayim, in the first day of the fifth month. 39 And Aharon was a hundred and twenty and three years old when he died in Mount Hor. 40 And King Arad the Kena`aniy, which dwelt in the Negev in the land of Kena`an, heard of the coming of the children of Yashar’el. 41 And they departed from Mount Hor and pitched in Tsalmonah. 42 And they departed from Tsalmonah and pitched in Punon. 43 And they departed from Punon and pitched in Ovoth. 44 And they departed from Ovoth, and pitched in Iyey Ha-Avariym, in the border of Mo’av. 45 And they departed from Iyiym and pitched in Diyvon. 46 And they removed from Diyvon and encamped in Almon Divlathaymah. 47 And they removed from Almon Divlathaymah, and pitched in the mountains of Avariym, before Nevu. 48 And they departed from the mountains of Avariym and pitched in the plains of Mo’av by the Yardan near Yeriycho. 49 And they pitched by the Yardan, from Beyt Ha-Yeshiymoth even unto Avel Hash-Shittiym in the plains of Mo’av.
50 And Yahuah spoke unto El-Mosheh in the plains of Mo’av by the Yardan near Yeriycho, saying: 51 Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, and say unto them: When ye are passed over the Yardan into the land of Kena`an; 52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy את all their pictures, and destroy את all their molten images, and quite pluck down את all their high places: 53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. 54 And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falls; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. 56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.
Chapter 34
And Yahuah spoke unto El-Mosheh, saying: 2 Command the children of Yashar’el, and say unto them: When ye come into the land of Kena`an; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Kena`an with the coasts thereof:) 3 Then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Tsin along by the coast of Edom, and your south border shall be the outmost coast of the Salt Sea eastward: 4 And your border shall turn from the Negev to the ascent of Ma`aleh Aqrabbiym, and pass on to Tsin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the Negev to Qadesh Barnea, and shall go on to Chatsar Addar, and pass on to Atsmon: 5 And the border shall fetch a compass from Atsmon unto the river of Mitsrayim, and the goings out of it shall be at the sea. 6 And as for the western border, ye shall even have the Great Sea for a border: this shall be your west border. 7 And this shall be your north border: from the Great Sea ye shall point out for you Mount Hor: 8 From Mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of Chamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Tsedad.
9 And the border shall go on to Ziphron, and the goings out of it shall be at Chatsar Eynan: this shall be your north border. 10 And ye shall point out your east border from Chatsar Eynan to Shepham: 11 And the coast shall go down from Shepham to Rivlah, on the east side of Ayin; and the border shall descend and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Kinneroth eastward: 12 And the border shall go down to the Yardan, and the goings out of it shall be at the Salt Sea: this shall be your land with the coasts thereof round about. 13 And Mosheh commanded the children of Yashar’el, saying: This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which Yahuah commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe: 14 For the tribe of the children of Re’uven according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the tribe of Menashsheh have received their inheritance: 15 The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side of the Yardan near Yeriycho eastward, toward the sunrising. 16 And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: 17 These are the names of the men which shall divide the land unto you: El`azar the priest, and Yahusha the son of Nun. 18 And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance. 19 And the names of the men are these: Of the tribe of Yahudah, Kalev the son of Yephunneh. 20 And of the tribe of the children of Shim`on, Shemu’el the son of Ammiyhud. 21 Of the tribe of Binyamiyn, Eliydad the son of Kiclon. 22 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Dan, Buqqiy the son of Yogliy. 23 The prince of the children of Yoceph, for the tribe of the children of Menashsheh, Channiy’el the son of Ephod. 24 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Ephrayim, Qemu’el the son of Shiphtan. 25 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Zevulun, Eliytsaphan the son of Parnak. 26 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Yisshakar, Paltiy’el the son of Azzan. 27 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Asher, Achiyhud the son of Shelomiy. 28 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Naphtaliy, Pedah’el the son of Ammiyhud. 29 These are they whom Yahuah commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Yashar’el in the land of Kena`an.
Chapter 35
And Yahuah spoke unto El-Mosheh in the plains of Mo’av by the Yardan near Yeriycho, saying: 2 Command the children of Yashar’el, that they give unto the Leviyiym of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Leviyiym suburbs for the cities round about them. 3 And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts. 4 And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Leviyiym, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about. 5 And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities. 6 And את among the cities which ye shall give unto the Leviyiym there shall be את six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities. 7 So all the cities which ye shall give to the Leviyiym shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs. 8 And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Yashar’el: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: everyone shall give of his cities unto the Leviyiym according to his inheritance which he inherits.
9 And Yahuah spoke unto El-Mosheh, saying: 10 Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, and say unto them: When ye are come over the Yardan into the land of Kena`an; 11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which kills any person at unawares. 12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stands before the assembly in judgment. 13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge. 14 את Ye shall give three cities on this side of the Yardan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Kena`an, which shall be cities of refuge. 15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Yashar’el, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that everyone that kills any person unawares may flee thither. 16 And if he smites him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death. 17 And if he smites him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death. 18 Or if he smites him with a hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death. 19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meets him, he shall slay him. 20 But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he dies; 21 Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he dies: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meets him. 22 But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him anything without laying of wait, 23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm: 24 Then the assembly shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments: 25 And the assembly shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the assembly shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil. 26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled; 27 And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood: 28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession. 29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 30 Whoso kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. 31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death. 32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. 33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defiles the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it. 34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I Yahuah dwell among the children of Yashar’el.
Chapter 36
And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gil`ad, the son of Makiyr, the son of Menashsheh, of the families of the sons of Yoceph, came near, and spoke before Mosheh, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Yashar’el: 2 And they said, Yahuah commanded my adoniy to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Yashar’el: and my adoniy was commanded by Yahuah to give the inheritance of Tselophchad our brother unto his daughters. 3 And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Yashar’el, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance. 4 And when the jubilee of the children of Yashar’el shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers. 5 And Mosheh commanded the children of Yashar’el according to the Word of Yahuah, saying: The tribe of the sons of Yoceph has said well. 6 This is the thing which Yahuah commands concerning the daughters of Tselophchad, saying: Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry. 7 So shall not the inheritance of the children of Yashar’el remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Yashar’el shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. 8 And every daughter, that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Yashar’el, shall be a woman unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Yashar’el may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers. 9 Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Yashar’el shall keep himself to his own inheritance. 10 Even as Yahuah commanded Mosheh, so did the daughters of Tselophchad: 11 For Machlah, Tirtsah, and Choglah, and Milkah, and No`ah, the daughters of Tselophchad, were married unto their father's brothers' sons: 12 And they were married into the families of the sons of Menashsheh the son of Yoceph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father. 13 These are the commandments and the judgments, which Yahuah commanded by the hand of Mosheh unto the children of Yashar’el in the plains of Mo’av by the Yardan near Yeriycho.
Haftorah: Yirmeyahu 1:1 - 2:3
The words of Yirmeyahu the son of Chilqiyahu, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Binyamiyn: 2 To whom the Word of Yahuah came in the days of Yo’shiyahu the son of Amon king of Yahudah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 3 It came also in the days of Yahuyaqiym the son of Yo’shiyahu king of Yahudah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Tsidqiyahu the son of Yo’shiyahu king of Yahudah, unto the carrying away of Yerushalayim captive in the fifth month. 4 Then the Word of Yahuah came unto me, saying: 5 Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations. 6 Then said I: Ah, Adonai Yahuah! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7 But Yahuah said unto me: Say not, I am a child, for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatsoever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, says Yahuah. 9 Then Yahuah put forth his hand and touched my mouth. And Yahuah said unto me: Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11 Moreover the Word of Yahuah came unto me, saying: Yirmeyahu, what do you see? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. 12 Then said Yahuah unto me: You have well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. 13 And the Word of Yahuah came unto me the second time, saying: What do you see? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north. 14 Then Yahuah said unto me: Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. 15 For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says Yahuah; and they shall come, and they shall set everyone his throne at the entering of the gates of Yerushalayim, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Yahudah. 16 And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other elohiym, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
17 You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak unto them את all that I command you: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them. 18 For, behold, I have made you this day a defensed city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Yahudah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. 19 And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you, says Yahuah, to deliver you.
Chapter 2
Moreover the Word of Yahuah came to me, saying: 2 Go and cry in the ears of Yerushalayim, saying: Thus says Yahuah; I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your espousals, when you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown. 3 Yashar’el was holiness unto Yahuah, and the first fruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, says Yahuah.
Besorah: Mattithyahu (Matthew) 23:1-39; 24:1-46
Then spoke Yahusha to the multitude, and to his Talmidiym, 2 Saying: The scribes and the Parashiym sit in Mosheh’s seat: 3 They always say to you to observe that which they observe; but do ye not works in accord with their works; for they say, and do not do. 4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the tsiytsith of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Rabbi, even Mashiach; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your Father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called teachers: for one is your Rabbi, even Mashiach. 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye shut up את the Kingdom of Heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. 15 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of Gey Hinnom than yourselves. 16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say: Whosoever shall swear by the Temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the Temple, he is a debtor! 17 Ye fools and blind: for which is greater, the gold, or the Temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 And: Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever swears by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. 19 Ye fools and blind: for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things thereon. 21 And whoso shall swear by the Temple, swears by it, and by him that dwells therein. 22 And he that shall swear by heaven, swears by the throne of Elohiym, and by him that sits thereon. 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin and have omitted את the weightier matters of the Torah: Judgment, Mercy, and Faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave את the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain את at a gnat, and swallow את a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 You blind Parashiy, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29 Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 30 And say: If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. 32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33 Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of Gey Hinnom?
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous H’avel unto the blood of Zakaryahu son of Berekyahu, whom ye slew between the Temple and the altar. 36 Amein I say unto you: All these things shall come upon this nation. 37 O Yerushalayim, Yerushalayim, you that kill the prophets, and stone them את which are sent unto you,
how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings,
and ye would not!
38 Behold,
your house is left unto you desolate.
39 For I say unto you: Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say,
Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahuah.
Chapter 24
And Yahusha went out and departed from the Temple: and his Talmidiym came to him for to show him the buildings of the Temple. 2 And Yahusha said unto them: See ye not all these things? Amein I say unto you: There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the Talmidiym came unto him privately, saying: Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Yahusha answered and said unto them: Take heed that no man deceives you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying: I am Mashiach; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. 12 And because the transgression of the Torah shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this Besorah of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniy’el the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Yahud flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Shabbath: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say unto you: Lo, here is Mashiach, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Mashiachiym, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so much so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you: Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of A’dam be. 28 For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of A’dam in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of A’dam coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a shofar, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Amein I say unto you: This nation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noach were, so shall also the coming of the Son of A’dam be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noach entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of A’dam be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; one is received and the other forsaken. 41 Two are grinding at the millhouse; one is received and the other forsaken.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Adonai comes. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of A’dam comes. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his adoniy has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his adoniy when he comes shall find so doing.
